In the 16th episode of season 3 of the American musical reality competition television series Lip Sync Battle, Zendaya famously battled her “Spider-Man: Homecoming” co-star Tom Holland on the Lip Sync Battle stage.
The episode aired on May 7, 2017, before the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards. It features Zendaya performing “Tyrone” by Erykah Badu “and 24K Magic” by Bruno Mars.

Her competitor Tom Holland sang “Ride Wit Me” by Nelly featuring City Spud and “Singin’ in the Rain” by Gene Kelly/ “Umbrella” by Rihanna.
“I just knew that if I was going to have any chance of beating [his Homecoming costar] Zendaya, I’d have to just go all out, and go down the funny route,” Tom told Yahoo Movies in June 2017. He lost out to Zendaya in the end.
“I get recognized more for my Lip Sync Battle than I do for being Spider-Man. People come up to me like, ‘Dude, You were so good in Lip Sync Battle!’ [I ask], ‘What do you think about Civil War? They’re like, ‘Huh?’”

“It was the most stressful experience I think of my life,” Zendaya shared in a June 2019 interview.
He added, “I get more comments on the Lip Sync Battle [episode] than I do any of my actual work, ever. To the point where I’m like, over it. When someone brings up the Lip Sync Battle, I’m like, “Don’t. Bring up. The Lip Sync Battle.”
Zendaya went from being a cute little Disney star to being one of the most promising celebrity icons of 2016. But, don’t take our word for it. Complex Magazine also noticed the rising star, and knew well enough to put her on their cover and name her “Woman of Next Year.”

Now, back to that Complex Magazine feature. In the interview, Zendaya said she probably wouldn’t have a “Miley moment,” and talked about how the Giuliana Rancic incident was a learning experience for everyone.
If you don’t remember, Giuliana was serving as an Oscars host and mentioned that Zendaya’s hair — styled into braids at the time — looked like it smelled like weed.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Zendaya is still only 19 years old.
