Would you say Vanessa Hudgens is one of the celebrities who can be credited for the rise of high-waisted shorts? We would. Nearly all of the shorts we have ever spotted her in were high-waisted, with the pair she wore to Coachella in 2011 most possibly being the one that started it all.

At Coachella in 2011, Vanessa Hudgens wore an eclectic ensemble featuring Wildfox high-waist shorts, a Litter SF chain leg garter, a Jj Winters mini fringe bag, multiple accessories including a Natalie B. Noga tribe necklace, Illesteva Leonard II sunglasses, Kettle Black sandals and bracelets, a Soixante Neuf snake arm cuff, a Chan Luu wrap bracelet, and Love Child feather earringsAt Coachella in 2011, Vanessa Hudgens wore an eclectic ensemble featuring Wildfox high-waist shorts, a Litter SF chain leg garter, a Jj Winters mini fringe bag, multiple accessories including a Natalie B. Another notable instance of Vanessa’s daring fashion choices is her appearance in leopard-print high-cut shorts. She was spotted in Los Angeles wearing these bold shorts, a lace kimono, and ankle boots, exemplifying her fearless approach to festival fashion.

So, when the paps caught Nessa leaving her house the other day wearing shorts that were not high-waisted, we took it as a sign that the high-rise look on shorts was already on its way down.

This is the trendsetter turning her back on the trend that she started. The strange thing is, she did it with a pair of shorts that she’s had for a while now and has worn numerous times before.
