Vampire Academy Takes Sydney by Storm

Later the same month, the pink carpet premiere of Vampire Academy in Sydney, Australia, in February 2014, gave us several more pairs of shoes to talk about and drool over.

Behind the Scenes: Auditions and Early Roles

When Vampire Academy premiered on February 7, 2014, Sarah Hyland was 23, Lucy Fry was 21, and Zoey Deutch was 19. Sarah Hyland, born November 24, 1990, turned 24 later that year. Lucy Fry, born on March 13, 1992, celebrated her 22nd birthday in 2014. Zoey Deutch, born November 10, 1994, turned 20 in the same year.

Despite initial setbacks, Lucy Fry’s persistence paid off when she landed a studio callback for the Vampire Academy movie through a self-tape submission after not receiving a callback for the first casting.

Sarah Hyland had to audition for her role in Vampire Academy remotely via Skype while working on the 2013 revisionist miniseries Bonnie & Clyde in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

She found the experience unusual, as the video quality was not great. Despite this, the director, Mark Waters, also joined the call and provided her with direction while a colleague read lines with her. This was her only audition, and she didn’t have to do an in-person audition.

Vampire Academy marked the feature film debut of both Lucy Fry and Anya Taylor-Joy. While Fry had a leading role in the film, Taylor-Joy made an uncredited cameo appearance as a “feeder girl.”

Despite the underwhelming performance of the 2014 film adaptation of Vampire Academy, plans for a sequel were initially pursued. However, these plans were ultimately scrapped.

In May 2021, it was announced that there were plans to adapt the popular book series into a television series. This decision was likely influenced by the success of other book-to-TV adaptations, such as Shadowhunters, which ran for three seasons after the 2013 film adaptation of its source material, The Mortal Instruments, was a box office disappointment.

A reboot television series of the same name premiered on Peacock in September 2022. It stars Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, Kieron Moore, and André Dae Kim alongside an ensemble cast.

The then-19-year-old actress was about to make big waves in Hollywood. She had already gotten the stamp of approval from Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the iconic role of Buffy in Joss Whedon’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Sarah even shared a photo on Twitter showing her standing next to a life-size poster of Zoey holding a stake. She sent it to the young actress with a message that said, “Are you sure you know how to use that stake?”

2. Sarah Hyland in Temperley London

Sarah Hyland was all dolled up in a sleeveless pink dress from Temperley London’s Resort 2014 collection, which features floral appliqués on the hemline.

She styled her hair in a chic updo to show off her stunning earrings and flawless makeup. Dominic Sherwood and Sarah Hyland met on the set of Vampire Academy and dated for three years.

Sarah Hyland, known for her role in The Conception, carried a metallic clutch from Kotur and completed her look with a pair of Jimmy Choo peep-toe pumps.

We don’t have the exact details of Sarah’s shoes, but they look like the designer’s “Luna” peep-toe platform pumps. These shoes feature covered heels, gorgeous black suede, and an elegant silhouette.
