The 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Nikki Glaser at The Beverly Hilton, recognizes the year’s outstanding achievements in film and TV.

Emilia Pérez, the most nominated movie, won four awards, including Best Motion Picture in a Comedy or Musical. The film’s star, Zoe Saldana, won the Best Supporting Actress award. Shōgun won Best Television Series Drama, while its main stars, Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai, took home Best Performance in TV Series Drama.

The Golden Globes mark the official start of the 2025 awards season, setting the tone and indicating which movies, TV shows, and actors will likely be recognized with major awards during the rest of the awards season. The same is true of the clothes worn on the red carpet!

Some of the best-dressed celebrities at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, like Zendaya, Angelina Jolie, and Ariana Grande, wore matching pumps and gowns, while others opted for open-toe heels, like Miley Cyrus, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Heidi KlumSome of the best-dressed celebrities at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, like Zendaya, Angelina Jolie, and Ariana Grande, wore matching pumps and gowns, while others opted for open-toe heels, like Miley Cyrus, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Heidi Klum (Credit: Jennifer Bloc / Future Image / Cover Images / Abaca Press / MediaPunch / INSTARimages)

Although gold dresses, such as Demi Moore’s Armani Prive, were the most popular, there were also the customary red and black and some pink and green gowns! Several stars, like Heidi Klum, Miley Cyrus, and Anya Taylor-Joy, paired their stunning gowns with open-toed heels, but pumps remained the most popular item on the red carpet.

Some may find pumps boring, considering their decades-long popularity and constant presence on red carpets. Others, however, value their simplicity, versatility, and timelessness. And though they’re a classic, I admire how the A-list attendees of the Golden Globes made their shoes match their gowns, creating a polished and cohesive appeal.

I like it when the dress and shoes complement one another; there’s a sense of harmony and balance, making the ensemble appear well-curated.

Let’s look at some of the most notable 2025 Golden Globes looks below. Explore 2025 shoe trends to see how this year’s red carpet choices align with the latest styles.

1. Zendaya Does Old Hollywood Glamour in Custom Louis Vuitton Gown and Pumps

No best-dressed list would be complete without Zendaya, who never fails to deliver, whether attending awards shows or promoting a film.

I had higher expectations, considering her previous red-carpet ensembles. Still, Zendaya nonetheless managed to draw attention with her burnt orange silk satin bustier gown and matching pumps, both specially designed for her by Louis Vuitton.

It’s a strapless gown with a bodycon silhouette, a sweetheart neckline, and a dramatic train attached at the back. I love how it ends at her ankles, allowing us to see her matching pumps.

They are made from the same burnt orange satin fabric as her dress and have sleek pointed toes and stiletto heels! I love how they enhanced the look, showcasing Zendaya’s distinctive sophistication and flair.

Despite not winning the Best Actress Award for her performance as Tashi Duncan in Challengers, Zendaya was undoubtedly one of the biggest red carpet winners of the night.

Not to mention, she debuted a massive diamond ring by Jessica McCormack that sparked engagement rumors. As per TMZ, Tom Holland proposed to the actress between Christmas and New Year’s. While we have yet to hear confirmation from the lovebirds, we’re happy with how solid their relationship is going.

Zendaya added a high-shine finish to the look with a Bulgari High Jewelry necklace featuring a 31-carat Paraíba tourmaline from Mozambique, a matching ring, and diamond stud earrings.

2. Angelina Jolie Shines in an Alexander McQueen Dress and Le Silla Pumps

Finally, Angelina Jolie upped her fashion game! As I had expected from her Palm Springs Film Festival appearance, she wore black, but this time, it was a sheer black dress with glittering crystals and chains laced throughout to conceal her modesty.

I like the silhouette, as it highlights her slender frame. It has long sleeves and an asymmetrical, long skirt with hanging crystal and chain fringes, lending the dress a sense of movement.

This gave us a better look at her metallic Le Silla “Bella” shoes, which matched her dress perfectly. These $862 pumps stand out for their classic elegance and modern nail-shaped heels, exuding refinement with their metallic pewter uppers.

With their impeccable silhouette and towering 4.7-inch height, these pumps perfectly capture Italian craftsmanship.

As if the sparkles were not enough, Jolie accessorized the look with jewelry from Messika, including mismatched earrings. She wore the $3,060 Fiery earrings in white gold with 0.31-carat diamonds and High Jewelry Illusionnistes clip earrings.

Unfortunately, Jolie, who stars in the biographical drama Maria, lost to Fernanda Torres of I’m Still Here for Best Performance in a Motion Picture Drama. However, she maintained her poise and elegance, looking gorgeous with her long blonde hair fashioned straight and in a half-down, half-up style.

She added pink lipstick and cat eyeliner as the finishing touches to her understated makeup.

3. Ariana Grande Follows the Yellow Brick Road in Givenchy Dress and Stuart Weitzman Pumps

Ariana Grande continues to break away from her year-long pink wardrobe trend by wearing yellow this time, following her pale-green dress at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards!

The Wicked star, who lost to Zoe Saldaña for Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture, opted for an unworn strapless pale-yellow silk dress with a hand-beaded bodice from Hubert de Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 1966 collection. Grande and her stylist, Mimi Cuttrell, acquired the dress from the high-end vintage shop Lily et Cie.

She paired her yellow dress with the Stuart Weitzman “Stuart Power” pumps in a buttery yellow color, which blended seamlessly with her gown.

They boast a modern, sleek silhouette with a foam insole for increased flexibility and comfort. Crafted by artisans in Spain, they are finished with a 4-inch stiletto heel set at a slight angle for added stability.

In an interview, Grande explained that the dress was yellow “because of ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’ and that it’s “one of Glinda’s favorite colors.”

It was said to have been designed while Audrey Hepburn served as the French fashion designer’s muse. Though it was tailor-made for Grande, I thought it looked unflattering on her figure.

I’m also not a fan of the white opera gloves. While I like the regal appeal they add, I don’t believe they worked well with the outfit.

Wearing her hair in a ponytail with Audrey Hepburn bangs, Ariana completed her ensemble with delicate white rhodium-plated jewelry from Swarovski’s Una Angelic collection.

She wore the $300 tennis necklace, $66.50 (from $95) drop earrings, the $199 starry cocktail ring with a clear centerpiece stone, and the $189 pavé-embellished round-cut stones ring.

4. Miley Cyrus Does Y2K in Celine Gown and Open-Toe Heels

Miley Cyrus wore her signature punk-grunge, vintage-inspired style to her first Golden Globes appearance since 2009.

Unlike most attendees who wore pumps, Miley displayed her pedicured feet in Celine open-toe sandals. Crafted from lambskin leather, they include buckled ankle straps for security and straps adorned with rhinestones.

The Celine heels matched Miley’s dress, which Hedi Slimane specifically made for the pop icon prior to her departure from the French luxury fashion label.

It’s a timeless black silk dress, but of course, injected with Miley’s distinctive daring aesthetic. It’s bold and elegant, with star-shaped cutouts across the torso, a low-cut back with bejeweled crisscross straps, and a plunging neckline that almost reaches her belly button.

I appreciate that Miley wore very little jewelry—just a pair of De Beers earrings—and allowed her body tattoos to give the seductive ensemble an edgy touch.

Her Celine Triomphe XI 01 sunglasses and punk topknot hairstyle completed her eye-catching ensemble. Hairstylist Bob Recine told People, “We wanted to create something that was custom but felt like a cross between Debbie Harry and Japanese cartoon characters, while still feeling undone and a little bit punk.”

Cyrus was nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture for The Last Showgirl’s “Beautiful That Way”.

5. Anya Taylor-Joy Looks Sweet and Feminine in Pink Dior Dress and Jimmy Choo Heels

Presenting the Award for Best Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television with Miles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy took to the stage in a sweet, feminine, all-pink look.

Like Miley, Anya was among the few who wore open-toe heels for the event, choosing the iconic Jimmy Choo “Minny” sandals but in a shiny pink satin fabric to match her Dior ensemble. They’re loved by celebrities, including Emma Stone, who once wore their salmon colorway, Bella Hadid, who wore a pair in metallic gold, and Nicole Kidman, who donned their classic black version in 2017.

They have almond open toes, toe straps, and ankle straps, rounded out with stiletto heels of about 4 inches.

Walking or moving forward makes feet look less attractive when wearing open-toed shoes. The toes become more noticeable, drawing attention to the feet and highlighting flaws or bumps. Fortunately, despite being somewhat pushed forward, typical for open-toe stilettos, Anya’s feet are nice and bunion-free; they don’t detract from the overall appearance.

The Dior ambassador paired her pink heels with an archival pale-pink silk Dior Couture dress featuring a sensual draped cowl neck and a form-fitting silhouette that cascades down her body like liquid.

Anya draped a silk floral-patterned shawl with long tassel trims over her arms, enhancing the retro look. As you know, I’m not a fan of pink, but Anya made it look so chic and elegant.

She rounded out her ensemble with diamond stud earrings, a Tiffany & Co. Star Burst crystal opal bracelet, and a matching necklace, which, in my opinion, are too big for a delicate and feminine look.

6. Kerry Washington Channels Barbie Pink in Balenciaga Gown and Knife Pumps

Kerry Washington went full-on Barbie in black and pink! Presenting the Best Actress and Best Actor Award in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy alongside Andrew Garfield, Washington gracefully walked the stage in black pumps and a pink one-shoulder gown from Balenciaga’s Resort 2024 collection.

She went with the pump version of the now-iconic Balenciaga Knife shoe collection—a favorite among many celebrities. Katy Perry wore a similar pair covered in ripped stockings during the 2024 Paris Fashion Week. She also has the thigh-high boot version, as does Kim Kardashian, who has it in denim. Chloe Sevigny, meanwhile, owns a mule version of the Knife shoes, which she wore at a Cartier event in 2018.

They may look basic in black, but as their name suggests, the Knife pumps have a sleek arched silhouette and a sharp pointed toe. Their thin heels, around 4 inches high, instantly boosted Washington’s 5’4″ height.

I like how her shoes and stockings complemented her black opera gloves, giving the playful yet feminine ensemble a regal touch.

They stood in contrast to her gown made of crinkled pink silk taffeta. It has a one-shoulder design and an all-over ruching that envelops her figure and ends in a lengthy floor-sweeping train.

Adding sparkle to the look, Kerry accessorized her Barbiecore outfit with Messika Midnight Sun II earrings and a matching ring.

7. Rachel Brosnahan Is Regal in Emerald Green Vivienne Westwood Gown and Silver Jimmy Choo Pumps

The ever-so-glamorous Rachel Brosnahan didn’t disappoint as she presented the Award for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television with Sarah Paulson on stage.

Like Kerry Washington, Brosnahan did not match her shoes with her gown, unlike other celebs on the Golden Globes red carpet.

She wore the silver “Ixia” pumps by Jimmy Choo, crafted in metallic leather and designed with a sleek pointed toe and stiletto heel. They’re available for $950 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Although you can never go wrong with silver shoes, I think it would have been more interesting if she had paired the dress with green satin pumps. Nevertheless, I adore the contemporary style and dash of glitz the silver heels added to the green dress, creating a visually striking yet distinct look.

She wore an emerald-green satin Vivienne Westwood dress featuring the English designer’s famous corsetry. It featured a tight bodice with gorgeous drapery at the scoop neckline, a one-shoulder style, and a wrap-style skirt with a dramatic train and a hip-high slip, showcasing her flawless pins.

Brosnahan tied the look together with diamond and emerald jewelry by David Yurman. She wore the $17,000 18k white gold tennis bracelet with prong-set diamonds totaling 5.55 carats, the $4,400 18k white gold Sculpted Cable Flex band ring with pave-set diamonds, and the $2,500 Pave Crossover hoop earrings set with 0.47-carat diamonds.

I especially adore the emerald pendant necklace resting on her chest; it gives the ensemble a sense of royalty.

8. Heidi Klum Embraces Brat Green in Maria Lucia Hohan Gown and Silver Aquazzura Heels

Heidi made the same choice as Rachel Brosnahan, wearing silver and green, creating a sense of contrast and balance.

Heidi sported silver open-toe heels from Aquazzura, showcasing her striking red pedicure. I honestly thought the look was rather festive!

The “So Nude” sandals have become a celebrity red-carpet favorite. Kylie Minogue has the same silver version, which she wore with a yellow mini dress to the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year Gala. Sarah Jessica Parker wore a raffia version to the And Just Like That set.

They have slingback straps and toe straps with a silver mirrored leather-effect finish. They are set on 4-inch heels, enhancing Klum’s already statuesque 5’9” frame.

Heidi teamed the silver heels with an airy Brat green gown specially made for her by Maria Lucia Hohan, a Romanian fashion designer known for her feminine, exquisite, and graceful designs, as seen in Klum’s dress.

Incorporating Klum’s signature daring style, the dress has a low-cut neckline and a cutout bodice that cascades into a softly pleated, airy skirt.

Heidi’s gorgeous ensemble was accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, which included a lariat necklace and a diamond ring.
