Selena Gomez hit the red carpet at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music celebration on Thursday night at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood. She was joined by her best friend Francia Raisa, who donated a kidney to Selena and essentially saved her life.
The 25-year-old American singer and actress was named the Woman of the Year by Billboard. Previous winners of the prestigious prize include Madonna, Taylor Swift, Pink, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé. Selena, who remained tearful throughout her acceptance speech, thanked her family and her supporters for sticking with her through “hard times”.
“I’ve never felt more proud to be a woman in this industry than I do today and that’s because I feel actually comfortable with every single woman that has encouraged me,” she said. “I am so grateful for all the older women who have lifted all of us up because I couldn’t be here without any of you. Thank you to all of you who have inspired so many girls who don’t feel like they have a voice. I’m very, very lucky. I love you guys.”
The newly-blonde singer was a red carpet knockout in an outfit from Versace’s Spring 2018 collection. She styled her cutout leather pants with a western-style Versace belt, sandals from the same Italian luxury fashion company with gold signature Medusa accents, a Versace bustier bodysuit, a black belt, and jewelry from EF Collection.
