Selena Gomez is getting a lot of flak for the fake tan she sported at the 2018 Met Gala. The “It Ain’t Me” singer’s overdone spray was further aggravated by frizzy curls, cake-y makeup, and a matronly custom Coach ensemble that was unflattering from every angle.

At first glance, it looks like Selena didn’t adhere to this year’s religious theme. However, the singer explained her ensemble in her red carpet interview with Vogue.
Sel said that her custom Coach crystal-embellished silk-gauze slip gown with a long train was inspired by biblical figure Queen Esther. She also had her favorite bible passage — Proverbs 31:30, which reads “A woman who fears the lord is a woman who shall be praised” —was inscribed on the front of her custom Coach “Kisslock Frame” handbag and on the gossamer ribbon down the back of her dress.
The 25-year-old then accessorized with her own $19,500 Tiffany & Co. diamond cross pendant necklace, which is the same one she had on at her lackluster 2017 AMAs “Wolves” performance. She completed her look with metallic-silver custom Coach ankle-strap sandals featuring the label’s C-links on the toe straps.
A fashion look shouldn’t need this much explaining. Would you say Selena Gomez’s 2018 Met Gala Coach ensemble is a yay or a nay?
