Scarlet Johansson, one of the highest-paid actresses in the world, has a style that I have long admired. While embarking on the promotional trail for her new film, Fly Me to the Moon, Johansson looked every bit the leading lady. Her gorgeous outfit selections, which wonderfully complemented her ageless, feminine beauty, demonstrated her penchant for timeless, classic silhouettes.

While she may not be fully adopting the method dressing trend—which has evolved over the past year into the official dress code for high-profile media tours—her clothing choices are as classic as the conspiracy theory that serves as the basis for her new film.

Fly Me to the Moon: A Fictional Story Based on an Actual Conspiracy Theory

Rather than a factual narrative, Fly Me to the Moon is based on a conspiracy theory that the moon landing was staged. However, the storyline will not just focus on the theory; rather, it will highlight the enemies-to-lovers relationship between NASA director Cole Davis (Channing Tatum), who is in charge of the Apollo 11 launch, and marketing expert Kelly Jones (Johansson), who is hired to “sell the moon landing” to the American people and boost NASA’s image.

She arranges sponsorships and brand partnerships and proposes an idea that the lunar landing be broadcast live. Davis is against it, but government operative Moe Berkus (Woody Harrelson) agrees.

Anxious about the Apollo 11 launch, the government orders Jones, unbeknownst to Davis, to stage a fake moon landing as a backup plan if things don’t work out for astronauts Neil Armstrong (Nick Dillenburg), Buzz Aldrin (Colin Woodell), and Michael Collins (Christian Zuber).

Minimalist in Courreges LBD and Silver Prada Heels

Scarlett Johansson showed off her love of minimalism on Thursday, July 11, as she attended the Spanish premiere of her new film wearing a simple mini-dress that accentuated her best features.

Although I adore the dress’s sleek appearance, I don’t think it’s sophisticated enough for a premiere. Johansson still looked fantastic anyway, and her exquisite accessories managed to enhance the ensemble somehow.

Scarlett’s dress amply demonstrated the sleek, futuristic, and sophisticated innovations of French fashion designer Courreges, whose dress she was wearing.

With a back zipper, short sleeves, and a single chest pocket, the twill trapeze A-line mini-dress beautifully captures Courreges’ distinctive streamlined 1960s designs. I particularly adore the low-cut square neckline and the thigh-skimming hem as they provide the minimalist silhouette a flirtatious charm.

Her stylist, Kate Young, created the modest yet sophisticated look. Some of her well-known clients include Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore, Dakota Johnson, and Nina Dobrev.

She is accessorized with pieces from the high-end French jewelry brand Messika, which is beloved by many celebrities for its inventive designs and skillful production of subtle yet elegant jewelry.

While I would have preferred a necklace around Johansson’s neck, Young chose to style her with a ring and earrings instead, perhaps to preserve the 1960s minimalism motif of the ensemble.

She fastened the $14,230 “So Move” XL diamond pavé pendant earrings to her ears, featuring a central diamond surrounded by a pavé-set halo totaling 2.12 carats. Their striking geometric contours make them the perfect accessory to provide character to Johansson’s simple dress. She also donned multiple tiny hoop earrings to give the look her signature edge.

Johansson paired her earrings with the $5,480 “Fiery” ring made of white gold with a 0.63-carat pear-cut diamond. Its sensual, bold contours make them ideal for Johansson, who’s known for her strong and confident personality.

David von Cannon combed her blonde hair back into a neat, stylish updo with a center parting, adding to the ensemble’s sophistication.

Meanwhile, Hung Vanngo used thick eyeliner, mascara, and a hint of smoky eyeshadow to draw attention to her almond-shaped green eyes. He also gave her lips a nude color with a hint of shimmer and pink blush on her cheeks.

Johansson finished off her ensemble with metallic silver Prada ankle strap sandals that looked as classic as her LBD. They have thin ankle straps that secure them to the foot and front toe straps that are embellished with the recognizable Prada triangle emblem. The thin, 4-inch heels helped to enhance her 5’3” stature.

Sparkling in Erdem Sequin Dress and Prada Sandals

A day before, Johansson made a stunning arrival at Berlin’s Zoo Palast for the German premiere of Fly Me to the Moon.

The Black Widow star looked sensational in a heavily embellished midi dress that her stylist Kate Young selected from Erdem’s Spring 2024 collection. Considering her love of classics, this decision is a deviation from her usual aesthetic, and I love her openness to try out more daring looks.

I adore the dress, but Scarlett isn’t selling it to me. It looks ill-fitting, particularly from the waist up. The bodice looks too tight, and she barely fits into the plunging sweetheart neckline.

What I love about it is how the gorgeous pale pink color complemented Scarlett’s tan complexion. The intricacy of the design is also something I admire; it’s beautifully coated in glittering transparent sequins that make her sparkle from every angle.

Not only that, but the dazzling burst pattern made up of contrasting ruby red and pink gemstones in a range of sizes and shapes adds a romantic vibe evocative of fireworks in the night sky.

The exquisite dress is held in place by embellished thick black straps, and the flirtatious appeal of the ensemble is enhanced by a red silk slip below that is visible at the neckline and a few inches below the hem.

A similar version of Johansson’s dress is on sale for $3,597 (down from $5,995) at Saks Fifth Avenue.

The dress is so spectacular on its own that I don’t think additional accessories are necessary, but Kate Young chose to add extra glitter to the look with statement jewelry. On her ears, she wore David Yurman’s starburst diamond earrings that went well with her dress.

The Asteroid City star also wore a few rings, including her $400k engagement ring from her husband, Colin Jost. James de Givenchy of Taffin created the unusual, one-of-a-kind 11-carat oval-shaped light brown diamond that is mounted on a thin band made of dark ceramic and rose gold.

The epitome of blonde bombshell, Scarlett wore her tresses in soft curls with a side parting, care of David von Cannon. To finish the look, Hung Vanngo gave the actress rosy cheeks and bright red lipstick.

I thought a pair of minimalist red sandals would look great with the dress, but the black Prada heels weren’t a bad option. They complemented the straps of the dress and gave the busy ensemble a more balanced appearance.

They have a sleek profile with pointed open toes accented with the house’s triangular logo plaque. Their elegant design is completed with stiletto heels and delicate ankle straps.

Retro in Gingham Prada Ensemble

At the New York premiere of her latest film, Scarlett Johansson embraced the 1960s setting of Fly Me to the Moon by going retro with an outfit that had a gingham pattern, a popular print in the 1950s and 1960s.

The 39-year-old actress arrived at the AMC Lincoln Square, looking set to go on a picnic date in a two-piece yellow-and-white gingham ensemble custom-made by Prada.

It was regrettably ill-fitting, even though it was tailored to Scarlett’s form. The sleeveless crop top seemed too tight, especially in the bust area. Although the column skirt didn’t look too bad, I wish it had ended at her calves to make the look more flattering.

Nevertheless, I like the charm and simplicity it has, especially with the baby pink crystal accents that glisten and define the halter neckline and arm holes, giving the outfit more pizzazz.

Even though you could hardly see them under the skirt, she was also wearing dazzling silver heels from Prada. They are open-toed and rest on 4-inch heels, secured to her ankles with buckled straps.

Her trusted stylist, Kate Young, styled the look with Taffin Durian Fruits earrings, a pair of oval-shaped drop earrings encrusted with white diamonds. I like the way David von Cannon fashioned Scarlett’s hair to bring out her magnificent jewelry.

He left a few stray hairs to accentuate her exquisite features, which Hung Vanggo enhanced with skincare products from Johansson’s The Outset. He prepped her skin using the Smoothing Vitamin C Eye + Expression Line Cream, Firming Vegan Collagen Prep Serum, Nourishing Squalene Daily Moisturizer, Botanical Barrier Rescue Balm, and Hydrasheer 100% Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30.

Her smokey eyeshadow, fluttery eyelashes, rosy blush, and pink lipstick rounded out her stunning leading lady look.
