In a newly uploaded photo, Samira—best known for her role as Poussey on the show—was all smiles as she proudly displayed a sparkling square-cut diamond ring on her ring finger.
Standing beside her is her girlfriend, Lauren Morelli, the writer and producer of the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black. The heartfelt photo was simply captioned with “YES.”

Samira and Lauren’s love story began on the show’s set, where their connection grew in front of their co-stars.
Lauren, who was previously married to a man, had a revelation about her sexuality during her time on the series. According to reports, Lauren planned a romantic weekend getaway, where she proposed to Samira.
Lauren Morelli and Samira Wiley tied the knot on March 25, 2017, in a vibrant Palm Springs wedding with a ‘Confetti’ theme. Both were wearing custom designs by Christian Siriano.

In May 2021, the couple announced the birth of their first child, a daughter named George. Samira celebrated the occasion by posting a sweet Mother’s Day tribute to Lauren, thanking her for bringing their beautiful daughter into the world after nearly three days of labor. The identity of the father is not known.
