Salma Hayek has worked on numerous films and occupied countless front seats at prestigious fashion shows, but as it turns out, she has a deeper calling.
“Salma Hayek Pinault is an amazing example of the worldwide impact that can be made by a woman of talent, generosity, and courage,” Women’s Media Center co-founder Jane Fonda said in a statement.

“Even beyond her beautiful and deeply vulnerable work as an actor, Salma has broken so many barriers with her bold enterprise as a producer, pushing through fierce challenges to bring to fruition works of deep integrity and meaningful impact. In addition, Salma continues to bravely speak out for women and the underserved around the globe, fighting powerfully against discrimination and domestic violence. I can’t imagine a better example of an honorable, empowered woman than Salma Hayek Pinault.”
In case you aren’t familiar with her life beyond the lights, the 50-year-old actress has pushed for women’s rights even from the early onset of her career.

Salma wore a fitted black Christopher Kane Fall 2016 dress with ostrich feather trim at the hem and one armhole. We’re not sure if the feathers are real, but judging from the whopping $1,345 price tag of the dress, we’re guessing they are.
The actress finished her look with jewel-encrusted hoop earrings, a black clutch, and Giuseppe Zanotti’s “Calliope” sandals.

Salma’s passion for giving women a place in the film industry shone through as she discussed women in media. The actress fiercely acknowledged that money made people move and that people are suddenly seeing the economic value of women in the industry.
The 50-year-old concluded that women are in a good place right now in making films. Salma’s Giuseppe Zanotti “Calliope” sandals are no longer available online.
