Our social media feeds were abuzz with photos of Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, as she moved from one stunning outfit to another during her recent Canadian visit.

Amidst the flurry of fashion choices, another style icon quietly entered the spotlight with a matching look: Emmy Rossum, sparking an unexpected who-wore-it-better moment.

Kate wore a red “Finella” dress from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. The dress, which cost a whopping $1,715, had a beautiful overlap detail at the bodice, flaring into a subtly pleated midi skirt.

The royalty styled her dress with Queen Elizabeth’s maple leaf brooch, a Jenny Packham “Casa Pony” clutch, Soru baroque pearl double-sided earrings, and her favorite Gianvito Rossi suede pumps in red.

The star of the whole ensemble was Kate’s maple leaf diamond brooch, a gift for the Queen Mother from her husband, King George VI, to commemorate their Canadian trip in 1939.

This unique and stunning family heirloom, passed down to Kate, was the perfect choice to complement her outfit during the Canadian tour with Prince William.

Emmy Rossum wore the same dress to her bridal shower when Kate wore hers to her Canadian trip. The American actress wore her dress with minimal jewelry and nude sandals.

To complete her look, Kate Middleton chose her go-to Gianvito Rossi suede pumps, which added the perfect finishing touch to her elegant red ensemble. Let’s take a closer look at these stunning heels:
