Nicholas Kirkwood welcomes you to the wild, wonderful, and wavy world he’s created for his Spring 2013 collection!
The YNS-favorite designer’s “Miami South Beach” inspiration is evident in his shoes’ swirly straps, winglike cutout heels, and crazy bright beach colors. Flats get wavy cap toes. Knee-high gladiator sandals boast a water-snake-embossed design. Even simple suede slingbacks didn’t escape getting a subtle bump in their stiletto heels to mimic an ebbing swell.
If the 100+ Spring/Summer 2013 designs aren’t proof enough of how immensely inspired Nicholas Kirkwood has been for this collection, take a look at the heels: he’s experimented with a broad range of widths, heights, and shapes. The forever sexy stiletto heels are there, but so are iridescent triangular heels, thick flatforms, loopy wedges, and (gasp!) mid-height block heels. Kirkwood says the new mid-height is “a way to get that height that people want without being so mumsy.” Will other designers follow suit and finally give women’s poor feet a break?
This is a huge collection, and even if we’ve already narrowed down our picks to 20 styles, it’s still overwhelming. Nicholas Kirkwood shoes can be found at Farfetch and Saks Fifth Avenue.
