Here’s an interesting new trend we’re tracking the rise of this fall/winter season: metal plates on shoes’ toes and/or heels.
The “O.G.” of this trend is of course none other than Fendi with their luxe shoe styles emblazoned with the now-iconic double F logo plates.
Fendista shearling booties, $995
A stacked heel and platform lift a chic suede bootie accented with a cuff of tactile shearling. A signature goldtone logo gleams at the front.
Fendista open toe platform pumps, $715.00
Bright colors saturate the back of a lofty satin pump. A logo ornament is embedded in the platform of the open-toe style.
Then along came Alexander McQueen with his Fall 2011 collection which included metal plate-inserted shoes such as this grey suede platform pump:
Metal toe and heel platform pumps, $985.00
Then Brian Atwood introduced gorgeous boots for his new B Brian Atwood line which had metal plates covering both the toes and the heels:
Taurasa leather lug sole ankle boots, $550.00
Now, this metal plate trend is slowly starting to trickle down to other shoe labels. BCBG Max Azria and Donald J. Pliner both have boots with metal plate-covered heels:
BCBG Max Azria ‘Rachel’ wedge boots, $395.00
Donald J Pliner ‘Berlyn’ leather boots, $395.00
Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 has high heel oxfords with metal plate-covered platforms:
Nelly Kitty platform booties, $295.00
And we could even include affordable brand favorite Naughty Monkey on this list because they have this metal-toed high heel loafer which is basically two hot fall trends rolled into one:
Retro Glam loafer pumps, $99.99
Metal plates provide a nice cold contrast to all the warm and cozy shoe styles for this fall/winter. They also completely redefine the shoe term “steel toe”!
How are you liking this metal plate shoe trend for this fall/winter?
