In a June 2022 interview with The Independent, Naomie Harris criticized the “disturbing” amount of coverage the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial received.
“It’s hard not to have followed that case because it was so rammed down our throats every day,” Naomie said. She starred with Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean as Tia Dalma.
Making a Statement at the BFI Chair’s Fellowship Dinner
The same month, she attended the BFI Chair’s Fellowship Dinner in a red satin dress by London-based fashion designer David Koma. The dress featured a strong shoulder, a high neck, a single open sleeve, and handmade 3D crystal crocodile embroidery.

Harris Reflects on the Impact of Media and #MeToo
“It was all over social media, all over the news, everywhere. I think there’s something quite disturbing about that, actually, because there are some serious events happening in the world that deserve much greater airtime than they’re having because this kind of thing is being aired,” she stated about the defamation trial between her co-star Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard.
While Naomie Harris has never shied away from speaking her mind on important issues, she also continues to captivate audiences with her performances and appearances. She turned heads at the Paramount+ UK Launch, where she joined Chiwetel Ejiofor and Bill Nighy to celebrate the platform’s arrival in the UK.

“I don’t understand why, with something that should have been a very private case between two people, the whole world was allowed access to it,” Naomie argued.
“I find it really bizarre and problematic. We televised that but not Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial, which is much more relevant and important. I have real issues with that.”

“It’s way more powerful than one particular case and one individual,” Naomie said of the impact of the trial on the #MeToo movement.
“It has a momentum that will not be derailed, it’s too entrenched. It will continue. Changes as a result of the MeToo movement are in place now.”

Miss Moneypenny kept her accessories minimal, opting for a sleek black Edie Parker box clutch and chic strappy heels. She added a fresh touch with white-painted nails and complemented her ensemble with understated makeup and a relaxed, tousled hairstyle.
Naomie’s sandals toughened up her ultra-feminine frock. They featured open toes, asymmetric straps, Velcro-fastening ankle-wrap straps, and four-inch heels.
