If we could sum up the shoes presented during Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2015 in only two words, they would be “retro spaceman.”
Skinny thigh-high boots in bright psychedelic colors at Versace were placed on top of laser-etched gold platforms. Ankle boots were given interesting and new flared heel shapes at Fendi and colored in ’70s-furniture design schemes at Just Cavalli.
And what’s an Italian Fashion Week without the classic snake, crocodile, and ostrich skins? The interesting part was the animal prints were sent down the runway along with futuristic metallics, exactly as how we imagine our hypothetical astronaut from the ’60s would dress.
Then there are the outliers. Forever rebel Jeremy Scott for Moschino brought the streets to the runway through heavily chained sandals and graffiti-sprayed pumps. Fausto Puglisi went hard all the way and brought lug-sole combat boots studded and pierced all over.
There are still a couple of days left in Milan Fashion Week so we can’t declare a top favorite yet, but the furs at Fendi and Salvatore Ferragamo are winning us over. Have you got a favorite already? See 26 crazily designed yet strangely beautiful fall 2015 shoes from Milan below.
