When we need to find out what dress a celebrity is wearing, we scour fashion shows, celebrity style websites, and the celebrity’s own social media accounts for clues or an actual ID.
We also draw from our archives and knowledge; after years of dedication to dresses and fashion, we’ve developed a sixth sense of these things.

We’ll do all sorts of stuff to get you an ID on a dress, but what this photographer did to find out what Mel B wore to the America’s Got Talent finale performance show is something we have yet to do.
It’s not the politest way, but it sure is the most direct way—the photographer just pulled down the back of Mel B’s dress to read the label. Couldn’t she have asked Mel B, “Who are you wearing?” instead?
If Mel B was fazed by it, she didn’t show it and regained her composure quickly enough to do hand-on-hip poses for the cameras.

If only the photographer had our insight, right? Then, she wouldn’t have had to read the label from the back of the dress itself and would have immediately known that Mel B’s dress’s panels and second-skin-like fit identify it as a Stella McCartney design.
Mel B is also a fan of Stella McCartney, having been spotted wearing the English designer’s dresses and even a jumpsuit in the past season.
