Margot Robbie stole the show at the 2023 Met Gala on Monday night, paying tribute to two legendary fashion icons while showcasing a stunning outfit.
The 32-year-old actress is promoting her new Barbie movie with Ryan Gosling and opted out of wearing a vibrant pink ensemble when she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in New York City.
As a Chanel ambassador since 2018, Robbie looked gorgeous in a black, floor-length gown from Chanel’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1993 collection, which supermodel Cindy Crawford had previously worn the original during the Paris Fashion Week show of that same year.

Her outfit boasted a captivatingly asymmetrical sweetheart neckline and gathered cups that cascaded into a V-shaped waistline, complemented by a striking sash that draped over her shoulder and elegantly trailed down the front, finished off with a cape-like back.
But the statement corseted bodice was the star of the evening, showing off Robbie’s abs with clear vinyl paneling and thin strips of sparkling gold chains, which was part of the designer house’s signature.
The Suicide Squad star completed her look with her blonde hair styled in classic Hollywood waves and accessorized with Chanel jewelry, including a pair of sparkling yellow gold and diamond drop earrings with a post base. She wore a gold ring on her left finger and sported her wedding ring on her right.
Robbie opted for a light, neutral eyeshadow and a nude lip for her glamorous look. The Wolf of Wall Street actress slipped into black Chanel heels hidden by her dress to elongate her silhouette.

Her outfit paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld, with the night theme being “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” in honor of the late fashion designer who oversaw Chanel for decades.
Speaking with La La Anthony for Vogue about her ensemble, Robbie said, “I’m wearing Chanel. This dress was worn by Cindy Crawford in 1993. They remade it for me, and it’s obviously a Karl design. I feel really great in it, actually.”

She also spoke about the prestigious event: “It’s incredible. Obviously, the Met is always an exciting night, but I had the great privilege of getting to know Karl to an extent. I was the last Chanel ambassador that he picked, actually. It is an honor. I’m thrilled that they’re honoring him tonight because he was exceptional.”
It is not Robbie’s first time wowing on the Met Gala red carpet.
In 2016, she donned a dazzling white strapless Calvin Klein gown, a simple custom piece partially backless with a vast cutout looming to the side. She accessorized her look with two gold Elsa Peretti Bone cuff bracelets by Tiffany & Co.

Robbie’s upcoming live-action Barbie film has also been making waves, with the first complete trailer released last month.
At the CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where she and Gosling appeared in character, Robbie wore a Prada ensemble that included a bubblegum pink and white gingham wrap miniskirt and bralette with scalloped black trim around the bust.
She accessorized with simple drop earrings that matched her Christian Louboutin baby pink peep-toe heels and a gold Chanel anklet and parted her blonde hair to the side.
Robbie also sported a long coat with the same gingham print, a pink Prada clutch, and black oval sunglasses when photographed outside the event.
As for Gosling, he also turned heads at the event, wearing a pink Carhartt coat over a white T-shirt that bore the director’s name in Barbie lettering. He completed his look with brown trousers and dress shoes.
