Fashion has always been considered to be a form of art, but the newly-released Louis Vuitton x Jeff Koons “Masters” collection seem to be taking that notion to the extreme.
The new “Masters” collection is the result of Louis Vuitton incorporating several famous paintings into its collection of iconic bags. The collection is a collaboration with artist Jeff Koons, who is known for his contemporary pieces.
Some of the famous paintings that got re-imagined as high fashion bags include Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa,” Fragonard’s “Girl with Dog” and Van Gogh’s “A Wheatfield with Cypress.” The popular images are mixed in with the brand’s signature monograms to create a different twist to the masterpieces.
We’re not completely sold on this collection. Sure, the paintings on their own are beautiful, but toting around Mona Lisa seems a little extreme. What do you think of these new designs? Are they worth the splurge?
