The huge hand-turned-monster paw tattoo is dedicated to her Little Monster fans who “hold their paws up in the air” during Lady Gaga’s live performances. It is decked out in lace and beads.
“Its the Monster Paw, the symbol of my fans as they have held their paws high in the crowd every night since we became a community. I cherish it for its meaning, the loyalty, devotion, and strength we share. I wanted it engraved on me forever,” Gaga revealed about her paw tattoo in a Reddit AMA question and answer session.
Lady Gaga also has a banner tattoo reading “dad” on her left shoulder that is a tribute to her father. She got this tattoo shortly after Joe Germanotta had successful open-heart surgery after struggling with a heart condition for many years.
The song “Speechless”, from her third EP, “The Fame Monster”, was written as a plea for her father Joseph Anthony “Joe” Germanotta Jr. to get the surgery.
