Kerry Washington, who loves a fresh, youthful aesthetic, has been serving stunning looks at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival with her signature style that often blends classic and contemporary.
Her latest red carpet outfits, which included a red PVC fringe dress at the Tribeca premiere of The Knife and a pink tweed ensemble at the Chanel Tribeca luncheon, instantly grabbed my attention. Styling duo Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn put together both looks, which, although hard to replicate and pull off, perfectly captured Kerry’s sense of style and daring fashion choices.

Let’s look closer at Kerry’s playful yet sophisticated Tribeca Film Festival outfits.
Futuristic in 1980s-Inspired Red PVC Fringe Dress by Sportmax
Washington doesn’t constantly wear futuristic clothing, but when she does, she understands how to pull it off.
Her fall 2024 Sportmax bright red ensemble truly appeals to me. I couldn’t help but admire her when she walked into the SVA Theatre to attend The Knife’s Tribeca Film Festival premiere, her husband, former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha’s directorial debut film.
A sub-brand of Max Mara that started as a casual, athletic wear label, Sportmax is well-known for its classic, clean-cut silhouettes with surprising intricate elements, like ruffles and pleats.
Washington’s outfit, hailing from the futuristic Fall/Winter 2024 “Camera Obscura” collection, exemplifies the brand’s aesthetic. It’s covered in transparent red PVC fringes that reflect light, allowing Washington to shine in all directions.

I love how this dazzling reflective element gives the classic elongated column silhouette a playful texture reminiscent of a flapper look. Another thing I adore about the dress is how it drapes her body and accentuates her slender figure. Strong, sculpted shoulders exquisitely frame her physique while heightening the ensemble’s ’80s retro-futurism.
The matching red shoes may be too much for some of you, but I’m digging it. I thought they enhanced the futuristic appeal of the ensemble, especially since the dress’s reflective appearance perfectly complemented the glossy red patent leather of the mules.
They’re the $675 “Lux” mules from Paris-based luxury shoe label Maison Ernest. I love their sleek red goatskin patent leather design, complete with sharp pointed toes, an open back, and 4-inch stiletto heels.

While I don’t think the look needs more accessories, Zangardi and Haenn added a Suzanne Kalan Classic Diamond Full Pavé Cuff. It’s made of 18k white gold set with 9.55 carats of pavé white diamonds, retailing for $60,000.
Washington also adorned her red-manicured hands with white gold and diamond rings, including a $7,640 Evil Eye Purple Ring from Marie Lichtenberg set with 24 F VS diamonds and a 0.53-carat sapphire.
Takisha Sturdivant-Drew complemented the retro vibe of Washington’s dress by styling her hair in a bouncy ’70s long bob reminiscent of Sex and the City. It’s sleek, with textured waves and wispy bangs ideal for the summer.
Billie Gene used MAC cosmetics to accentuate Kerry’s beauty. He brushed a light pink blush over her cheekbones, applied matte pink lipstick, and gave her fluttery lashes and smokey eyes with a hint of sparkle.

Feminine in Pink Tweed Chanel Skirt and Coat
I’m not really into pink, but I love Washington’s pink tweed Chanel ensemble at this year’s Chanel Tribeca luncheon. The event celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Through Her Lens campaign, a filmmaking initiative that provides emerging female filmmakers and authors with financial assistance, support, and mentorship.
Kerry donned a black-and-pink cotton tweed checkered mini skirt with knit rosette-like embroidered wool, giving the textured appearance a whimsical touch. She paired it with a matching knee-length wool and cotton tweed coat from Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection, which, while I thought it was a tad thick and heavy for the sweltering June weather, looked terrific on her.
She toned down the look by teaming the ensemble with the $3,200 white cotton shirt, perfect for the casual chic affair. The shirt was decorated with random, colorful embroidery at the chest and right below the round neckline.

Kerry accentuated her 5’4” frame with black leather sandals featuring thick quilted toe straps, open toes, and slim buckled ankle straps. I like how she kept her shoes classic to avoid distracting attention from her busy outfit.
She added a glittering touch to the tweed ensemble with rings, earrings, and oversized retro-style sunglasses with a crystal-trimmed frame.
Her tresses were parted to the side, and her attractive features were emphasized with pink blush and lipstick to match her clothing.
