Despite music being her primary passion, Keke Palmer’s breakthrough occurred when she made her debut in the film Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004) as Queen Latifah’s niece (Credit: MGM Distribution Co.)
Barbershop 2: Back in Business was Palmer’s first significant film role, launching her career as a successful actress. Her performance was so impressive that the film’s producers urged her parents to move to California with her to pursue further acting opportunities.
This meant giving up their jobs and their recently acquired home and uprooting their other three children. But Palmer’s parents, Sharon and Lawrence “Larry” Palmer, were unwavering in their support of her dreams, and they made the move.
She has since starred in several films and television shows, including Akeelah and the Bee, True Jackson, VP, and Scream Queens.
