Three months after causing a stir at the Balenciaga FW 2024 Haute Couture fashion show with her topless-long fur coat appearance, Katy Perry is back, this time completely covered in a luggage-inspired outfit at the French luxury brand’s Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week.
Yes, you read that right! Katy Perry wore an entire luggage, sans the wheels, stealing the spotlight as she joined stars Nicole Kidman, Dixie D’Amelio, and Ashley Graham in the coveted Balenciaga front row.
Katy Perry’s Statement Look: The Balenciaga Luggage Bag Dress
Katy Perry wore a not-so-typical LBD straight from Balenciaga’s Fall 2024 collection. It’s a luggage dress featuring a fitted bodice with at least four zipped pockets on the front. It also has a top handle along the neckline and is held in place by thick buckled leather halter straps, just like in carry-on luggage. Interestingly, each zip features Balenciaga engraving.
The bottom half of the LBD features double zips around the waist, creating the illusion of a knee-length skirt attached to the bodice. With its long straps hanging down the sides, it resembles a duffel bag.
While the design is fascinating, it may be too bulky for practical wear. Although it seems fitting for the chilly autumn, I still feel it’s too thick and heavy, given all the zipped compartments and material.

The dress distinctly embodies the creative vision of Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s creative director. Gvasalia is renowned for revolutionizing the fashion industry by pushing the limits of creativity and technology with his avant-garde creations.
Demna’s style is similar to that of Katy Perry, who is known for wearing ensembles with punk and rebellious undertones that perfectly express her carefree, easygoing style. Though not everyone appreciates her more daring style these days, I have to give it to Perry for confidently rocking every outfit.
What’s inside Katy’s bag dress, you ask? The Perfect Magazine released a video showing Katy taking items from her dress’s top zip pocket, including a miniature bottle of Jack Daniels, her iPhone, and a broken macaron.

A Futuristic Twist: Balenciaga’s Panther Mask Sunglasses and Knife Boots
With the help of her stylist, Tatiana Waterford, Katy added a futuristic touch to her quirky, contemporary dress with the $765 Balenciaga Panther Mask sunglasses in black injected nylon. I love this addition as it truly enhances the look’s space-age vibe.
She skipped the jewelry and finished the set with the popular over-the-knee Balenciaga “Knife” boots, which added to the ensemble’s futuristic allure. Kim Kardashian wore a blue denim version of the Knife boots in 2021. Kendall Jenner has also been sporting its ankle boot version since 2017.

Rather than her shades or boots, the QR code on her palm is perhaps her most intriguing accessory. This code leads users to her website, which features her merchandise and vinyl versions of her album 143.
I wasn’t surprised by this move, though, as she did it recently at the 2024 MTV VMAs. She has also promoted her most recent album, 143, by going out with unusual accessories.

I adore how Katy’s glam squad—hairstylist Andrew Ly and makeup artist Hung Vanggo—accented her look with futuristic glitz.
