I usually say Joey King’s style resonates with me, but not this time. I’m not against her most recent press appearance; it’s just not what I expected from her. While it doesn’t have the youthful grace I’ve grown to love from her, it still has her distinct, cheerful flair.
The Despicable Me 4 voice actor combined three major fashion themes for her July 10 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she talked about everything—from having her Bullet Train co-star Brad Pitt in her contacts to her NSFW text to her husband, Steven Piet, right before the interview to her longtime friendship with Sabrina Carpenter. But of course, she graced the show primarily to promote her film, A Family Affair—a romcom starring Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron.

Monochromatic + Barbiecore + Peekaboo Bra
Although Barbiecore’s popularity is slowly waning, Joey King is keen to take advantage of the chance to rock a head-to-toe hot pink ensemble. She combined the feminine, monochromatic style with the peekaboo bra trend, giving rise to a flirtatious persona she has recently adopted.
Some believe she’s in her attention-seeking phase, but I prefer to think that as an adult, she’s simply coming to terms with her body.
King wore an ensemble from Patrizia Pepe, an Italian fashion label that has attracted the likes of Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, and Alexa Chung with its avant-garde designs, which often combine feminine grace, everyday practicality, and contemporary appeal.

King’s outfit reflects the brand’s concept quite well. It’s playful, flirtatious, and feminine! She donned the pink $202 stretch tulle top, which perfectly accentuated her curves. Its long sleeves and turtleneck did nothing to maintain modesty, but I still appreciate how it embraced her contours.
The Kissing Booth actress layered a bra from the label’s Fall 2024 collection over her top rather than under it, a trend that began in the early aughts and is currently making a comeback among style enthusiasts. I have nothing against the trend, but it is too daring for my taste.
She looked extremely voluptuous in the strappy mauve bralette with a daring boob window created by the pink tulle accent. It also comes with a crystal-encrusted front clasp for an extra touch of glamour.
I adore how King balanced the sensuality of the top half with a simple, versatile pencil skirt. She tucked her top into the $293 Essential slim-fit wrap skirt cut from stretch crepe fabric.

Fun and Whimsical Accessories
What better way to style a flirty look than with edgy and whimsical accessories? I commend Jared Eng for doing exactly that, styling King’s ensemble with pieces that capture the actress’s playful personality.
The Princess star wore Simone’s Edgy Jacket Stud earrings, a modern 2-part earring made from 18k and 9k white gold with 30 pieces 0.35ct. diamonds and white Mother of Pearl.
A few rings decorated her hands, such as the Mara Paris Flux Ring (now on sale for $168 from $270). It is a signature item from the Délicatesse line by the jewelry brand, drawing inspiration from the classic appeal of modern sculpture.
It’s made of vermeil and 925 sterling silver, with an abstract shape inspired by the metamorphosis of biological forms. It celebrates nature as the everlasting source and backdrop of human experience. I adore how it slides up the finger with such grace, evoking an aura of breathtaking beauty that melts into the skin.
What’s interesting is it can be worn in two ways. You can place it in two opposite directions or on separate fingers.

Contrasting Red Strappy Heels by Santoni
I had assumed that King would wear the outfit with white or matching mauve or pink heels, but instead, she wore strappy red shoes by Santoni that seemed out of place.
Though I adore her sandals, they don’t match her outfit. The Italian fashion brand describes them as a slick patent leather sculptural masterpiece. These sandals feature playful straps that encircle the foot with double buckles that honor the brand’s iconic design.
I am particularly drawn by the 4-inch geometric plexiglass heels that widen at the base for support. The sandals’ attractive crimson degrade enhances their charm and instantly sparks attention.

Complementary Sultry Glam
I want to commend Joey’s glam team for giving her a seductive beauty look that matched the vibe of her ensemble. Allan Avendaño accentuated her enchanting blue eyes with smokey, dark pink eye makeup, which included thick eyeliner and fluttery lashes. He also applied pink eyeshadow under her eyes to add to the sultriness.
Allan softened the edges with pink lipstick and blush so that the attention remained on her eyes. Meanwhile, Danielle Priano gave Joey another makeover, this time with long, blonde hair parted on the side and done in messy beach waves.
Finally, Joey’s look was completed by her sheer iridescent manicure, created by Marietta Mack using Opi Gemini and I lacquer with V Beauty Pure Gel Color 090.
