Joey King has been acting since she was little, but she has never had the opportunity to walk the Cannes red carpet. This year, she finally made a remarkable debut at the Cannes Film Festival, and she left a lasting impression by choosing outfits that showcased her charms.

She was seen on two occasions over the weekend, showing support for the French animated drama film The Most Precious of Cargoes, directed by Michel Hazanavicius, and the Chinese-Hong Kong crime drama She’s Got No Name, starring Zhang Ziyi and Michelle Yeoh, and helmed by Peter Chan.

See the striking differences between Joey King’s dazzling yellow look and icy princess appearance on the red carpet.

Radiating Old Hollywood Glamour in a Yellow Miu Miu Column Gown

King’s style has indeed changed over the years. Since childhood, the 24-year-old actress has adopted a more daring style, wearing clothes that accentuate her best features. King opted to emulate Old Hollywood glamour for the She’s Got No Name Cannes film festival premiere, which took place in conjunction with the festival’s closing ceremony.

The Bullet Train actress wore a yellow gown that glistened against her beautiful skin tone, adding a burst of sunshine to the Cannes red carpet.

Since Joey King has been wearing Miu Miu quite frequently and attended the Miu Miu Paris fashion show in March, I wasn’t surprised to see her sporting a bespoke Miu Miu creation for her Cannes debut.

Cut from light yellow iridescent taffeta, the dress had an understated style, seemingly meant only to draw attention to her contours. Its scoop neckline showcased her ample cleavage, but its straightforward, modest silhouette and cap sleeves kept it from becoming overly suggestive.

I loved how the form-fitting corset-style bodice emphasized her figure before falling into a floor-length column skirt. Though it looked plain and basic from the front, the back had a thigh-high split that bared her legs, a keyhole cut just above her tailbone, and a tiny black bow. Her sense of style, which is elegant but carefree, was mirrored in these playful elements.

Glimmering Opera Gloves and Jewelry

In keeping with the look’s Old Hollywood feel, King added a pair of sheer black gloves, which appeared to be in style these days. But hers weren’t your typical opera gloves; they were brilliantly adorned with multi-shaped crystals and crystal fringes, highlighting her playful take on fashion.

These striking gloves looked amazing with her black platform sandals. They have towering block heels that added a few inches to her 5’4” height. Unfortunately, I could not get a good look at her heels, but I assume they’re also from Miu Miu.

I must credit King’s longtime stylist, Jared Eng, for creating such a gorgeous look. I love that he kept her neck bare and fastened a pair of Gabriel & Co. diamond earrings to her ears.

Flapper-Inspired Prada Bob Hairstyle

Joey King appeared with a short bob hairstyle, which Dimitris Giannetos called the “Prada Bob.” It was surprising because the day before, she still had her long blonde hair, suggesting that she had had it chopped while in Cannes.

This extremely short, chin-grazing bob hairstyle takes inspiration from the iconic flapper bob from the Roaring ’20s. It’s sleek and blunt, with an inward curve that touches the jawline or cheeks.

After cutting, Dimitris gave her a deep side part, with one side tucked behind her ear and the other secured with a pin.

I like how it went well with her retro-style dress, further enhancing the Old Hollywood vibe of the look. I initially thought she was only wearing a wig with the rest of her hair hidden underneath, but Giannetos proved me wrong when he uploaded a video of himself cutting the actress’s hair.

Joey King was at Cannes as a guest of L’Oreal, attending with brand ambassadors, such as Sofia Carson. Naturally, Allan Avendaño used L’Oreal cosmetics for the occasion, highlighting King’s blue-gray eyes with mascara and winged eyeliner. He finished her glam with a hint of blush and a swipe of pink lipstick.

Channeling Ice Princess in Blue Cong Tri Gown

The previous day, The Kissing Booth star commanded attention in a see-through baby blue gown that gave the impression that she was channeling an ice princess. It was custom-designed by Cong Tri, a Vietnamese fashion designer known for his feminine yet powerful and modern creations.

I adore this color on Joey, just like her yellow Miu Miu outfit. Her body was draped sensually and gracefully in the ethereal gown, made of delicate fine silk chiffon fabric, perfectly encapsulating the designer’s aesthetics.

The bodice, which went smoothly down her hips like a bodysuit, was embellished with glistening Swarovski crystals and smooth leather trims, giving it a structured corset appearance.

It came with a pleated cold shoulder, which, I think, was strategically placed to conceal her breasts while enhancing the ensemble’s regal grandeur. In addition, it featured a cleavage-baring plunging neckline held in place by wide shoulder straps.

A double cape hung from the straps, cascading down the carpet in a sweeping train. The soft ruching around the waist complemented it, creating the illusion of water flowing down Joey’s legs.

Coordinating Blue Heels

I love that Joey opted for a seamless look, slipping her pedicured feet into the custom blue satin Gianvito Rossi “Crystelle” sandals.

They glisten with double rows of crystals that encircle the foot, fastened around the ankles with buckled ankle straps. They also have peep toes, PVC-paneled uppers for a hint of modern flair, and 4-inch stiletto heels for an added height boost.

A silver version of these sandals can be purchased at Mytheresa for $871 (from $1,245).

Striking Glam and Jewelry

Once again, Jared Eng did a fantastic job styling Joey. To match her pastel blue gown, he selected a set of diamond and turquoise jewelry from Gabriel & Co.’s Victorian line.

Joey wore the $4,300 18k White Gold Rock Crystal MOP Turquoise Drop Earrings with 1.08ct. diamonds and adorned her manicured hands with the matching $4,250 Vintage Inspired Rock Crystal White MOP Turquoise Triplet Ring.

Hos Hounkpatin styled Joey’s golden hair in side-parted mermaid waves before she had it chopped. To complete her gorgeous glam, Allan Avendaño used L’Oreal products.

He prepped her skin with the Revitalift Derm Intensives Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Eye Serum and the Revitalift Triple Power Fragrance-Free Moisturizer. After that, he used the Infallible Foundation and Concealer to even out her skin, the Le Lumi Liquid Blush in Worth It Dewy Glow, the Lumi Glotion in Medium, and the Infallible Bronzer in Medium to give her a beautiful glow.

He applied the Le Shadow Stick in 100 Ice Sparkle on her lids, the Mechanical Gel Liner in Black, and the Lash Paradise Mascara in Brown to draw attention to her stunning eyes. For her lips, he blended the Colour Riche Lip Liner in Worth It, Colour Riche Lipstick in Fairest Nude, and Infallible Lip Gloss in Nude Twinkle.
