She opened up about her dating history during an Armchair Expert podcast interview hosted by Dax Shepard. The actress mentioned a past relationship with a mystery partner.
“I was in a relationship for a couple, but I stopped it when things got too hectic,” referring to her busy filming schedule.
The viral scene-stealer explained, “It had nothing to do with them, it was just… I couldn’t manage.”

She continued talking about why she didn’t want to date anyone right now, and it had much to do with her jampacked work schedule. Immediately after the success of Wednesday, the star jumped into filming and produced her latest film credit, a rom-com called Winter Spring Summer or Fall.
“I just don’t think it would be fair to someone else,” she said about her choice to remain single. But she added that she’s also “not ready to be that vulnerable or trusting with someone.”
During a later interview with Gayety, Ortega expressed her belief that the character Wednesday Addams serves as a gay icon. Explaining her perspective, she emphasized the character’s badass nature, cool demeanor, and unique sense of style.
According to her, Wednesday Addams embodies the strength of embracing one’s differences without seeking validation from others. She regarded this as an immensely empowering quality, suggesting audiences yearn for depictions of strong women supporting one another.

The Scream star further explained why she remains single during her Elle April 2023 cover issue interview, saying that the idea of a relationship gives her stress.
“Maybe I am too obsessed with my work, but the idea of relationships stresses me out,” she shared. “And also being that vulnerable with someone and having to get to know someone that well and having someone see you for all that you are… My brain knows that I don’t need to think about that right now.”
