We thought Jaden Smith would go the usual Hollywood route for a while back there. He hung out with popular kids like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and the Jenner girls. His being the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith landed him major movie roles starting at the young age of 8, and he further used that advantage to breeze right into the arts/music /fashion scene.

Then Jaden slowly started becoming more, well, different. He was seen less and less with the cool kids. He started writing cryptic Twitter messages, prompting people to call him a philosophical genius or just another emo teen.

Jaden’s latest deviant antics included wearing a black-and-white striped sweater dress, which we have identified as a Topshop design from the label’s women’s section.

The 16-year-old shared a picture of the cross-dressing controversy on Instagram and captioned it with “Went To TopShop To Buy Some Girl Clothes, I Mean ‘Clothes.'”

Jaden was trying to convey a gender equality message, and you know what? We think he was successful. Women have been getting away with wearing men’s clothes for a long time, so why not men? It’s time we break that double standard and Jaden just might have started the revolution.

So that you know, this wasn’t the first time Jaden wore a woman’s dress. A few days before, he wore what appeared to be a black sweater dress layered with a white mesh tank and cutoff jean shorts. His accompanying Twitter message for this daring outfit was “That Moment When Your Wearing A Dress With No Pants And You Swerve Way To Hard.”
