Irina Shayk Swims with Sharks for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, Risking Her Life for the Perfect Shot
You are dead wrong if you think being a model is all glitz and glamour. Posing for pictures requires keeping fit and looking pretty; sometimes, it also requires risking one’s life.

Take Irina Shayk’s sexy shoot for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit as an example: the Russian beauty had to swim with sharks—and we mean that literally.
“There’s tons of stingrays and fish and blacktip sharks. It was kind of dangerous because a shark could literally bite my booty and the swimsuit off,” Shayk told Entertainment Tonight.
Irina talked about what it was like behind the scenes at her Tahiti-shot SI Swimsuit spread at a release party in New York.

Irina wore a white babydoll dress with flapper-inspired fringe layers at the bottom. She paired the clean dress with metallic floral laser-cut sandals that revealed her pretty feet. Irina’s entire look is from Azzedine Alaïa.

Irina Shayk posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for the 10th time, and it was her most challenging shoot yet.
Shot in Tahiti, she was surrounded by underwater predators, including stingrays and blacktip sharks. The danger was real, as Shayk mentioned that a shark could have potentially bitten her swimsuit off.
Despite new models in the issue, Shayk affirmed that she’s not going anywhere and has been with Sports Illustrated since her discovery in 2007.
“They discovered me back in 2007,” Shayk said. “I’m still here, and I’m not going anywhere.”
