Like Olivia Palermo, Fearne Cotton is also a pro at mixing and matching pieces. However, unlike the American socialite, Fearne’s style is more off-beat, casual, and slightly bohemian.

Of course, that doesn’t stop us from stalking the British radio and television presenter just as much. We find her fashion sense creative and unexpected. Besides, we always welcome a good outfit idea when we see one — no matter how unusual — and Fearne offers plenty.

Take, for example, the look she put together for another session at BBC Radio 1 studios in August 2014. The blonde beauty sported a mixed-print ensemble consisting of a paisley-patterned button-down worn over black skinny jeans and ankle boots. Not content with the busy shirt, she teamed the pairing with a snake-print tote and topped the outfit with a black-and-white printed scarf.

The combination was a lot to take in, especially since she used a textured necklace and tortoise-rimmed sunnies to go with the look. However, per usual, Fearne pulled it off well enough to look chic.

How do you like Fearne’s layered outfit? Would you dare to mix so many prints like a seasoned sartorialist? We say, why not?

To create a cohesive look, limit your main colors to three. Here, black, white, and red are the primary colors. Use colors like beige, blue, brown, and grey as accents. When layering prints, pieces with a black-and-white base are particularly effective.

Below are the key items you’ll need to recreate this look from Fearne. We chose a black-and-white scarf from MARC by Marc Jacobs that’s made of 100% cotton, but you can easily switch that to a thicker neckerchief made of wool if the weather in your city is already starting to get cold and windy:
