Samsung held its 12th Annual Hope for Children Gala on June 11 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. It was a star-studded event that raised $1.5 million to benefit children’s health, education, and sustainability programs. Hope for Children, Samsung’s corporate social responsibility program, has raised over $30 million and has helped over 500 schools since its inception.
The cause is great, and the celebrity fashion at the event was just as great. We spotted all kinds of footwear at the gala, from classic and chic to cool and trendy.
In the spirit of children’s education (a primary push of the program), we’re grading the celebrities’ styles. What letter grade would you give them?
1. Chrissy Teigen in Jimmy Choo “Taste” Sandals
Supermodel Chrissy Teigen decided to be different by wearing black pants and a black top. She was more casual than the rest of the stars in attendance, but she still looked fabulous. We loved her Jimmy Choo “Taste” suede and wired t-strap sandals. They were one of the trendiest shoes we spotted at the event.
Final grade: A

2. Karolina Kurkova in Caged Sandals
Leave it to Karolina Kurkova to show that supermodels look their best when they have no frills. At the Hope for Children Gala, the gorgeous model wore a little black dress paired with cool caged booties that had multiple straps and knot details. She accessorized with just a chunky silver necklace and bangle. She looked naturally beautiful and chic.
Final grade: A– (since Chrissy set the bar high)

3. Estelle in Walter Steiger “Puckered” Peep Toes
Estelle was definitely not the best dressed at the gala. There were just so many things wrong with her look — the two-toned hair, the awkward accessories, and the underwhelming makeup, for example. But her Walter Steiger curved-heel printed peep toes were just enough to redeem her. It’s too bad we can barely see them under her long gown.
Final grade: B for the shoes and C for everything else

4. Sherri Shephard in Black Ankle-Strap Sandals
Comedian Sherri Shephard proves that you don’t need a model’s body to be fierce. She worked her curves with a bright green printed dress and paired it with black double-ankle-strap sandals. Her big smile added a huge impact, too.
Final grade: B

5. Jessica Szohr in Christian Louboutin “Pigalle” Pumps
Ooh la la, it looks like Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr got some fashion tips from Serena and Blaire. She looked very much like one from the Upper East Side in her short sequined dress paired with 5-inch-heeled Christian Louboutin “Pigalle” pumps in nude patent leather. We loved seeing this side of Jessica.
Final grade: B+ (we’re grading on a curve, and the models scored high)

6. Marisol Thomas in Valentino “Rockstud” Pumps
Marisol Thomas looked absolutely stylish in her black dress paired with pink-and-nude Valentino “Rockstud” pumps. It was just the right amount of color to make the whole outfit fun and trendy. We love her yellow clutch, too. She also gets extra credit for her sexy arm candy, Rob Thomas.
