Heidi Klum has never been one for subtleties in style, but this time, she really might have overdone it.

For Ocean Drive Magazine’s swimsuit issue celebration, the 45-year-old model went for gold overload in a Greta Constantine “Gabriele” bell-sleeved sequined dress, a matching sequin-covered clutch, and Giuseppe Zanotti “Yvette” pumps so gold they made Heidi’s skin and hair look green.

We’d call Heidi’s gold outfit “gaudy,” but given that she wore it to the launch of her eponymous swimwear line in Miami, we have to admit that it does fit the occasion. Anywhere else, it would have been overkill.

We still would have preferred a more subtle outfit that allowed the shoes to stand out on their own, like how Priyanka Chopra wore hers.

“With style and clothes and swimsuits or lingerie, it doesn’t change with age,” she told People in 2016 about her swimwear line.
“I love fashion and I love showing off my feminine assets. I still feel sexy and I want to look sexy and so it doesn’t matter that I’m 43 instead of 25.”
“Everyone is trying to put 5,000 straps and weird cutouts [on swimwear],” Klum added. “That works well on photo shoots, but it doesn’t look so great on everyone at the beach. I like classic silhouettes that you pep up with beautiful prints and textured fabrics.”
