Haley Bennett joined Angelina Jolie, Sarah Hyland and Saoirse Ronan on the blue carpet at the 23rd annual Critics’ Choice Awards. In a sea of ankle-strap sandals, Haley in her Chloe “River” wedge booties was a change of pace — although not quite a welcome one.
“The Girl on the Train” actress channeled a head-scratching punk-girl-on-the-prairie vibe in a Chloe Spring 2018 dress. The silver metal rings on the unzipped eyelet top were meant to add edge to the tiered ruffle midi skirt, but made the whole outfit look even more confusing instead.
Haley did herself no favors with her choice of accessories: a bangs comb-over updo, an embroidered grandma purse, and the Chloe “River” canvas-and-leather booties with foldover collars and curved wedge heels.

This isn’t the first time Haley has worn the Chloe “River” wedge booties. At the “Thank You for Your Service” LA premiere, the 30-year-old actress also failed to hit the mark when she paired the shoes with a custom Chloe gown. While her finger wave hairstyle and her white asymmetrical frock screamed glamour, her desert-boot-inspired footwear were going in another direction.
