After breakout roles in films like We Need to Talk About Kevin and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Ezra Miller was the talk of Tinseltown.
As an openly nonbinary actor, 30-year-old Ezra Miller (they/them/theirs) was making waves in their career, scoring coveted roles in the lucrative Harry Potter spin-off franchise, Fantastic Beasts, as well as the iconic fleet-footed vigilante, The Flash, in the DC Extended Universe.

Even with a slight edge as a conventionally attractive nepotism baby, Ezra Miller’s career was the stuff of legend.
When the actor officially came out as queer in 2012, they were embraced by Hollywood rather than shunned, as many queer artists before them had been. Ezra Miller wasn’t afraid to be themselves, publicly speaking about navigating the world as a polyamorous, nonbinary individual.

At the time, Ezra Miller seemed to help usher in an era of acceptance and understanding, using their celebrity status to try to make a difference in the world.
In the midst of the #MeToo movement, the actor shared their own story in a moment of vulnerability in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
They didn’t stop there, going on to become an outspoken activist for the queer community and fervently protesting alongside indigenous peoples to stop the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Everything seemed to be going swimmingly for Ezra Miller… until it wasn’t.
First, Ezra Miller Just Seemed a Bit… Eccentric.
Finding smashing success at such a young age will inflate anyone’s ego, as Ezra Miller was quickly praised for their dynamic and versatile abilities. They were the next big thing.
Plus, the actor’s honesty and openness about their gender and romantic orientation made them someone that queer individuals could look up to.

It makes one wonder if all the attention went to the actor’s head.
In nearly every one of their press interviews, Ezra Miller certainly had a chichi air about them, making eccentric remarks such as “I barely identify as a human” in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
The actor even described their polyamorous relationships in a larger-than-life manner, in a 2018 interview with Playboy magazine, saying: “I make almost a familial connection with [them], and I feel like I’m married to them 25 lifetimes ago from the moment we meet.”

However, Ezra Miller knew they were a bit peculiar, noting to GQ: “People think I’m someone who exaggerates… I think people tend to associate me as somewhat hyperbolic in my tendencies. I’m actually not so. I try to be very honest.”
Then, Ezra Miller Began Exhibiting Concerning Behavior.
Securing a role in both the Harry Potter universe and a major superhero role in the DC Extended Universe must be the Hollywood equivalent to winning the first two legs of the Triple Crown. Seemingly on top of the world, Ezra Miller began acting a bit… unhinged.
The first egregious offense came in July of 2017. After a talkback session at San Diego Comic Con, a seemingly tipsy Miller quizzed fans, asking why the Flash has such a high alcohol tolerance.
One DC superfan answered correctly – the Flash has such a high metabolism that becoming drunk would be a monumental task – prompting the fan to jokingly shout at the actor, “Let me smell your breath!”

Ezra Miller promptly responded by kissing the fan directly on the mouth. The fan hardly had time to react – shocked and perhaps a bit embarrassed as they turn to the camera – before the actor swoops back in to repeatedly smooch the fan’s neck.
Some fans may be pleased by the actor’s advances, but the lack of communication or consent between Miller and the fan was disconcerting, to say the least.
A year later, Miller did an interview with Clevver News in a full Toadette cosplay. This wouldn’t have been weird on its own, considering it occurred during a Comic Con afterparty, but the actor was so committed to the bit that they gave exclusively nonsensical and nonlinguistic answers to the interviewer’s questions. Many commenters on the video surmised that Miller must have been under the influence of mushrooms, given their outfit.

Ezra Miller’s Behavior Goes from Disturbing to Dangerous.
When the pandemic struck in February 2020, filming ceased for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Ezra Miller took this as an opportunity to join a commune, located at an AirBnB in Iceland.
According to anonymous reports from Business Insider, the house was filled with mystics and artists and “everyone was hypnotized.” It is then that some reports surfaced about Ezra Miller’s volatile behavior, as other commune members were said to be afraid of them during their mood swings.

In the same report, an 18-year-old woman alleged that she began a sexual relationship with the actor, saying, “Ezra was super-manipulative. They kind of had us all under their finger. They were able to twist and pull everything that I thought I knew about the world.”
A video was posted in a now-deleted tweet in April 2020 (confirmed by Variety, with a snippet from Page Six), wherein a person – alleged to be Ezra Miller – is seen taunting a woman, saying, “Oh, you wanna fight? That’s what you wanna do?”

Unprepared, the woman believes this person to be joking and laughs it off. The person in the video – again, allegedly and appearing to be Ezra Miller – violently chokes the woman and throws her to the ground. That’s how the video ends.

In yet another viral video, the actor (confirmed by Ezra Miller) addresses a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, saying, “Look, if y’all wanna die, I suggest just killing yourselves with your own guns… Otherwise… we’ll do it for you.”

Somehow, the Situation Gets Worse.
2022 is a record year for Ezra Miller, who:
- Gets arrested at a bar in Hawaii for verbally assaulting a couple on karaoke night as they sing “Shallow” from A Star Is Born. It is unknown whether this is due to Miller’s hatred of the song (unconfirmed) or if the singers were not up to their standards (also unconfirmed). The actor’s bail is later paid by a couple, who shared a hostel with them.
- Two days later, that same couple filed a restraining order against Miller. In the court documents, the pair alleges that the actor returned home – after the couple had just bailed them out of jail – to steal the couple’s passports and wallets, paired with a cryptic threat that had Miller allegedly saying, “I will bury you and your slut wife” (via Radar Online).
- Three weeks later, the actor is arrested in Hawaii yet again. This time, they are accused of throwing a chair at a woman during a party, hitting her in the forehead. Fortunately, she only received minor injuries.

These are just a few examples of the actor’s upsetting and violent behavior.
If These Events Were Not Shocking Enough, Ezra Miller Is Accused of Grooming Multiple Children.
When the actor attended the DAPL protests in 2016, they met 12-year-old Gibson Iron Eyes, a young nonbinary activist who bravely fought for indigenous land rights.
Six years later, in June 2022, the pleading parents of a now 18-year-old Gibson Iron Eyes accused Ezra Miller of grooming their child, beginning when Miller was 24 and Iron Eyes was 12, shown in court documents obtained by TMZ.
Iron Eyes’ parents claimed that Miller had kidnapped their child, using the influence of illicit substances and threats of violence to lure their child into complacency, alleging: “Ezra uses violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions, and drugs to hold sway over a young adolescent [Gibson].”

While the actor and Gibson Iron Eyes were still unable to be located, a report surfaced from another nonbinary child, just 11 years old at the time. The child and their mother were granted an order of protection from Ezra Miller, due to claims that the actor behaved violently towards the mother and inappropriately towards the child.
In the report and interview obtained by The Daily Beast, Miller was spending time with the child, their mother, and a neighborhood friend near the actor’s ranch in Vermont. According to the neighbor, who witnessed these events, the actor allegedly launched into an angry outburst during a conversation about board games and Rastafarianism.

“At this point, Ezra explodes and started screaming directly into my face,” the witness told The Daily Beast. “They said, ‘You don’t even know what the fuck you’re talking about. What did you say to me? What did you just say to me?!’”
Then, the actor escalated things further, opening the jacket they were wearing to reveal a gun. The witness stated, “…they opened up one side of their jacket, you could see a gun, and they said, ‘Talking like that could get you into a really serious situation.’”
Both the child’s mother and the neighbor claimed that the actor began to behave inappropriately towards the child, saying: “I’ve talked extensively with your child, and they have a lot of power to them. At one point, you’re going to realize that you don’t have any control over them anymore. They’re an elevated being, and they would be lucky to have someone like me guide them.”

The child reported feeling terrified, saying, “It was really uncomfortable. I was really nervous. I was scared to be around them after they’d yelled at my mother and she was crying.”
After that occasion, the family claimed Ezra Miller continued to “pester” them before the mother and child were granted an order of protection. The Daily Beast chose to keep the identities of the child, their mother, and the neighbor anonymous – a wise decision, considering Ezra Miller was still on the lam with yet another child they were alleged to have groomed.
Unfortunately, there are little reports on Gibson Iron Eyes’ whereabouts as of right now, but we hope they are safe.

Ezra Miller’s Behavior Is Deranged and Unacceptable.
The list of Ezra Miller’s inappropriate and violent actions continues far longer than this article can cover (although The Cut offers a solid summary).
After being charged with a felony burglary – which was later dropped – the actor provided a statement to Variety, which reads:
“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

However, this statement was only released after Ezra Miller found out that Warner Bros. was in talks to completely replace them in the upcoming film, The Flash, in which Miller stars as the titular character.
It would be reasonable to think that Miller’s actions would irreparably damage their career. Yet, the first trailer for The Flash premiered in the most coveted commercial spot on television: during the Super Bowl.

One can only hope that Ezra Miller gets the mental health help they so desperately need without hurting anyone else in the process.
