Many have already waxed lyrical about the versatility of gingham shirts – or even plaid shirts in general. Not only do they work in all seasons, but they go with a myriad of outfits. Girly, grungy, preppy, vintage – you name it! We completely understand the undying hype that surrounds it.
Judging from the many plaid shirts Reese Witherspoon has worn in the past, it is clear that she is a part of the celebrity crowd that loves plaid tops. The 37-year old actress prefers to wear a casual button-down shirt on her down days.

What we like about Reese is that she takes the trend and puts her own spin to it. And get this: the effect is wearable and easy to copy. We, mere mortals, can rock a similar outfit on any given day.
The ‘Legally Blonde’ star teamed it up with dark-colored five-pocket “Nico” skinny jeans by Hudson with a rolled up hem and black leather double zipper detailed pointed toe ankle boots by Saint Laurent.
She was seen toting a black “Atlantique Bionic Mini” handbag by Reed Krakoff that can also be worn crossbody style. Her outfit was completed with “2132 New Wayfarer” sunglasses by Ray-Ban.

Later that day, she gave the shirt a new look by wearing a sweater over it so only parts of the gingham shirt are visible. The effect is a preppy-chic outfit that is both modern and timeless.
