Shopping at Free People can be tricky sometimes because the models and pictures are too pretty.
I appreciate all the effort they put into making their product images truly look like ads in magazines, but it’s hard to imagine how this dress, for example, would look in real life and on you.

Sigh. So pretty. So unreal! There are also many practical reasons why one shouldn’t wear a see-through mesh dress, but whatever, the prettiness still reels me in.
This is the Free People Cascades of Ruffles Slip. True to its name, it features beautiful, floaty, and dreamy ruffles layered in an almost random but completely unique way:

I love that this slip dress used contrast black piping for the edges and the hemline. It brings out the layers and reminds me of this Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 dress, which I truly, truly love to this date:

Now, let’s return to the Free People Cascades of Ruffles Slip. It’s a dress meant for layering, and I would probably go the leather jacket route, like how the model is wearing it, too.
For a spring-appropriate outfit, layer the dress with a lace tank top and lace shorts. Complete the look with beaded strappy sandals. This combination offers stylish, seasonally suitable layering options.
