This will be Sam’s first marriage and Emmy’s second. The actress was previously married to music producer Justin Siegel, but the two divorced in 2010 after two years together.
While the actress was mum on social media regarding the details of her engagement, her fiancé wasn’t able to contain himself.
Sam Esmail’s romantic proposal got a yes from Emmy Rossum
In a May 2017 interview with Vogue, Emmy shared that her boyfriend proposed to her through the ‘Modern Love’ section of The New York Times, which they read together every week.
“I began to read the article, and the story is about a director who falls in love with an actress, and I started to think: Huh, that’s strange,” Emmy recalled. “And then I realized that it was our love story.”

“At first, I freaked out because I thought perhaps he had actually put it in the paper and I hadn’t seen it, and everyone knew it but me,” she continued. “And then, I kind of scanned to the end and it said, ‘Love, your Sam.’”
Her boyfriend had called his friend, editor Daniel Jones at The New York Times, to print out a whole mock section on the bottom half. When Emmy had finished reading the article, he proposed with a vintage Chaumet diamond engagement ring.
Emmy was spotted getting some R&R at a spa just two days before the engagement.
