Okay, so we know that sporty styles are THE thing this Spring/Summer season. But out of all the forms of athletics to emulate and epitomize, one singular sport stands out as the primary source of inspiration for the current fashion crop.

That sport is none other than scuba diving or, to be more specific, what’s being copied is the wetsuit used for scuba diving. Yes, plenty of other sports use wetsuits, too, but we should tell you that what really helped us to come up with today’s list of dresses is using the keyword “scuba” in our search.
For us, the scuba dress that started it all is this particular one Michael Kors sent down his Resort 2012 fashion show runway after spending an extended vacation in Australia:
The scuba dress that marked the beginning of a fashion trend is the wetsuit dress showcased by Michael Kors in his Resort 2012 fashion show following his extended stay in Australia
It is a literal interpretation of the scuba suit, but thankfully, this is as true to the original as it gets. We don’t think anyone’s too keen on donning hot and sticky neoprene fabric right smack dab in the middle of the warmer seasons.
Last Sunday, Emma Watson rocked the scuba dress trend at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California.

Her Brood Fall 2012 dress, which features zippered panels and an extreme racer back, even had that zipped down around the waist look as if it was a half-worn wetsuit:

The British Harry Potter actress, model, and activist paired her super-sporty dress with these stitch-accented, swirly strapped black stilettos:

Admittedly, these aren’t the first shoes we’d pair with that dress, but Emma makes us think twice. Are you sold on them?

Emma Watson’s loop-front heels are these Tabitha Simmons ‘Gothic’ sandals:

These have beige panels under the stitching accents. The heel height on these is approximately 4″.
