Hollywood’s Gender Pay Gap

In a July 2017 conversation with tennis icon Billie Jean King for Out Magazine, Emma Stone addressed the Hollywood gender pay gap.

“It’s a difficult system because it depends on the kinds of films you’re a part of, the size of your role, how much the movies make at the box office. And so much of that changes your pay throughout your career, so I go more to the blanket issue that women, in general, are making four fifths at best.”

“In my career so far, I’ve needed my male co-stars to take a pay cut so that I may have parity with them. And that’s something they do for me because they feel it’s what’s right and fair,” continued Stone. “That’s something that’s also not discussed, necessarily — that our getting equal pay is going to require people to selflessly say, ‘That’s what’s fair.’”

In January 2019, two days after attending the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival, Emma Stone attended the BAFTA Tea Party at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The world’s highest-paid actress in 2017, she has a net worth of $30 million!

The then 30-year-old actress styled a colorful Fendi Spring 2019 dress with Givenchy Fall 2018 sandals, a Louis Vuitton clutch, orange eye makeup, and Louis Vuitton jewelry.

The following day, she attended the 2019 Golden Globe Awards in a custom Louis Vuitton gown styled with accessories from the same French fashion house and luxury retail company founded in 1854.

Emma failed to earn above $10 million in 2018 and was not one of the 10 highest-paid actresses of that year.

In addition to banking over $20 million pre-tax for La La Land, the movie-musical won her an Academy Award for Best Actress. In 2017, she also landed a lucrative deal worth up to $12.8 million to become the face of LVMH brand Louis Vuitton.
