It is timeless and easily the go-to option of many women. The wrap dress is an ingenious creation, flattering on almost all figures and an easy-to-wear classic choice. It’s hard to believe that this iconic dress is already 40 years old.
Although the latest models have undergone some redesigning, the basic silhouette (that we all know and dearly love) has never really changed.

“You can’t beat a Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress; I always tend to go for the wrap dresses with a little more structure. I also love Prada shoes,” actress Wendi McLendon-Covey said in an interview.

DVF wrap dresses might be a little pricier than your typical simple frocks. But because of their timelessness, we consider these frocks a no-fail fashion investment. They can easily go from day to night and, on top of that, are unbelievably comfy, too.
Diane created the wrap dress when she sought independence and work, initially designing it as a practical and stylish option without buttons or zippers. The first version featured an animal print, enhancing its appeal by making women feel confident and feline-like.

“The wrap dress is the most traditional form of dressing: It’s like a robe, it’s like a kimono, it’s like a toga,” she told HuffPost in an interview.
“It doesn’t have buttons or zippers. What made it different was that it was jersey; therefore, it was close to the body and it was a print. And the first one was animal print so it made every woman look like a feline. And that’s how it happened. It’s not like I was thinking ‘Oh, I’m creating the IT dress.’ I just made it and it took off and was a huge success.”
