Doja Cat was among the many huge artists this year whose music achievements were snubbed by the Grammys despite being nominated in multiple categories.

Although she didn’t bag any gramophone this year, Doja Cat was a clear red-carpet winner.

The Say So singer arrived at the Crypto.com arena in a figure-hugging vinyl gown created by Atelier Versace.

While the material is not easy to wear, Doja Cat looked at ease as she posed for photographers on the red carpet. In the one-shoulder vinyl gown with a mermaid-style skirt and a long dramatic train, she flaunted her famous hourglass figure.

If not for the vinyl’s sheen finish, the dress would look too basic for the rapper, considering her signature out-of-the-box red-carpet fashion statements, particularly at the recent Paris Fashion Week.

Styling Behind the Scenes: The Team’s Effort

With the help of her stylist Brett Alan Nelson, the 2022 Billboard Music Award Top R&B Artist teamed her dominatrix-style outfit with matching black vinyl opera gloves and a pair of black spiral hoop earrings by Panconesi.

“You look fierce, Doja!” Versace’s artistic director, Donatella Versace, said in an Instagram post.

A Look at Doja Cat’s Makeup and Hairstyle

JStayReady attached Doja Cat’s pixie wig using Ghostbond by Professional Hair Labs, while makeup artist Ernesto Casillas amped up the dominatrix vibe of the look with punk-inspired glam using KISS Products lashes and Charlotte Tilbury makeup.

He prepped her skin with the Glow Toner followed by the Magic Serum Crystal Elixir and the Magic Cream for a luminous, reflective look that complemented her vinyl gown.

He then gave her dramatic cat eyeliner with Luxury Eyeshadow Palette in The Rock Chick and a hint of Colour Chameleon in Smokey Emerald, finished with the Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir on her lips.

The Grammy Nominations: A Recap of Doja Cat’s Journey

Since the beginning of her career, the 27-year-old rapper and singer has racked up a total of 16 Grammy nominations but has only won one.

For this year alone, she received five nominations, including Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video for her sleeper hit song, Woman.

It was released in 2021 as part of her third studio album Planet Her, nominated at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

She was also up for Best Rap Performance for Vegas, which was the lead single from the soundtrack for Elvis Presley’s biopic, Elvis. The award later went to Kendrick Lamar for his song The Heart Part 5.

Last year, Doja Cat nearly missed accepting her first-ever Grammy win because of a bathroom break. She won the gramophone for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Sza for their duet Kiss Me More.

This year, Doja Cat was again nominated in the same category this time with Post Malone for I Like You (A Happier Song). Unfortunately, they lost to Sam Smith and Kim Petras for their chart-topping single Unholy.
