Dakota Johnson looked like a Shakespeare novel come to life at the 89th annual Academy Awards.
The 27-year-old actress decided to veer away from the sheer dresses and embellished gowns worn across the red carpet by colleagues like Priyanka Chopra and Leslie Mann, instead opting for a subdued look that still managed to capture attention.

Dakota’s gold satin gown is from Gucci’s Fall 2017 collection. The frock had a high neckline and a ruffled collar, and was given more shaping in the form of shoulder pads and a large bow detail on the waist. The dress also had a plisse detail on the front, a floor-length skirt and a short train.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” star styled her interesting pick with gorgeous jewels straight from the Cartier Paris archive to further enhance her dramatic look. She wore a statement diamond neck piece and stunning 1940s cocktail rings. She wore metallic strappy heels — also from Gucci — and joined Emma Stone by showing support for Planned Parenthood by adding a small pin to her matching clutch.
Dakota completed her look with sleek dark hair, shimmery eye makeup and soft pink lips.
E! News host Ryan Seacrest interviewed Dakota during her pause on the red carpet. The actress joked about not wearing any makeup, and requiring bodyguards to guard her Cartier jewels. Dakota also talked about the learning process of working on the “Fifty Shades” movie franchise.
