Daisy Ridley has been leaning heavily into black while promoting her upcoming zombie survival thriller, We Bury the Dead, in New York City. It felt fitting for the film’s dark tone.

While her dresses were mostly understated, sometimes even bordering on too simple, she never let the looks fall flat. Her shoe choices were what kept things interesting for me. Instead of wearing predictable, classic pumps, Daisy chose black footwear with a more unique edge. From sculptural pumps by Jude to feminine Aquazzura heels and sharp Proenza Schouler boots, each pair added a quiet edge to her outfits.

Let’s take a closer look at her press tour outfits.

Architectural Black: Jude “Fame” Pumps on The View

Daisy Ridley stepped onto The View set in an all-black look that was timeless, confident, and quietly dramatic.

What pulled me in were her heels. Daisy wore the Jude “Fame” pumps, a pair that’s quickly become a favorite among celebrities since their release last year—and I could see why. Crafted in Portugal from glossy black patent calf leather, they weren’t your typical black pumps. The squared, pointed toe gave them an architectural feel, while the curved dagger heel, around four inches high, added a modern, sculptural edge, making them sharp, elegant, and instantly recognizable.

Chloe Grace Moretz wore them in white while promoting her Off-Broadway play Caroline, Lily James chose the cacao suede version for the Swiped press tour, and Rachel Brosnahan also wore them during Superman promotions in July. They’re available for $623 at Farfetch.

Asymmetrical Lines, Open Back, and Polished Soft Glam

Daisy paired the pumps with a sleek black dress that hugged her frame beautifully. It appeared modest, with a high neckline and long sleeves, but the drama revealed itself as she turned around. The back featured a daring open cut that added allure, while the asymmetric hemline offered drama. One side rose high at the thigh as the other fell toward the ankle, revealing just enough leg while striking a balance between sexy and refined.

Daisy wore her dark hair in a neat, side-parted bun that not only highlighted her dress’s clean lines but also showcased her statement earrings, which added just enough sparkle to her all-black look. Soft glam, with fluttery lashes, pink-toned eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick, kept her beauty look fresh and feminine.

Unfortunately, Ridley wore a long black coat outside the studio so that we couldn’t see the whole look at first. But once she was inside, the outfit stood out, looking clean, bold, and elegant.

Soft Tailoring: Aquazzura “Very Bow” Pumps on Live with Kelly and Mark

Outside the Live with Kelly and Mark studios, Daisy Ridley embraced a look that felt effortlessly elevated yet noticeably more comfortable than the outfit she wore on The View. And honestly, I loved how relaxed but put-together everything looked.

On her feet were the stunning black Aquazzura “Very Bow” pumps, another pair that proved she has a strong eye for beautifully made shoes. These weren’t just any pointed-toe pumps. Crafted in Italy from smooth black suede, they looked plush and luxurious yet sharp and structured.

The pointed toes and slim stiletto heels delivered instant polish, but it was the knotted bow detail on the outer side that captured my attention. It added this dreamy, feminine twist, made even prettier by the subtle d’Orsay cut on the inner side, showing just a hint of skin. I loved how these details made the design flirty yet refined.

Relaxed Layers, Soft Draping, and Minimal Accessories

Daisy stepped out in a long black coat, exuding effortless winter sophistication. As she moved, you could see the soft gray dress beneath, which she later fully revealed inside the studio. It had a relaxed silhouette with gentle draping at the neckline and loose dolman sleeves that narrowed toward the cuffs, giving it a casual, slouchy elegance. Thankfully, the fitted waist defined her figure, providing necessary structure against the more relaxed neckline and sleeves.

Daisy wore her brunette hair in loose curls that framed her face beautifully, giving her look a touch of old-school glamour. Her skin looked luminous, with minimal soft pink makeup that added warmth to her features, paired with a coral-pink lip.

She also kept her accessories minimal, which I loved. Instead of piling on jewelry, she chose a delicate pair of earrings that added just the right hint of sparkle.

Modern Edge: Proenza Schouler “Trap” Boots at the We Bury the Dead Screening

For the New York screening of We Bury the Dead, Daisy Ridley proved that a black dress doesn’t have to play it safe. Instead of leaning into the usual dainty elegance, she added a tougher, fashion-forward twist that I loved.

Knee-high boots aren’t typically worn with a glamorous black gown, but that’s exactly what made Daisy’s look exciting. She wore the Proenza Schouler “Trap” knee-high boots in smooth nappa leather, which had a clean, structured shape. The fluted mid-heels and slim, trapezoid toes instantly caught my attention. They were modern and sharp, giving Daisy’s glamorous look a cool, stylish edge. These boots are on sale for $903 (from $1,290) at Mytheresa.

Ridley teamed the boots with the Proenza Schouler “Rosina” dress, $1,490 at FWRD, crafted in fluid crepe with an asymmetric neckline. I loved the contrast between the relaxed, draped upper half and the cinched waist that flowed into a sleek maxi skirt.

Daisy added a touch of sparkle to her all-black outfit with the Anita Ko Diamond Coil Ring and the bold, pave-set Rainbow K Earring, making the look feel playful yet refined.
