Although I’m not exactly a fan of Daisy Edgar-Jones’ style, as I often find it too understated, I was surprised by how she subtly adopted method dressing in outfits by British designers Victoria Beckham and Vivienne Westwood while in London to promote her upcoming disaster film, Twisters.
Despite the recent downpours in London, the foreboding skies provided an appropriate background for the film’s promotion. As the movie’s lead star, Edgar-Jones looked the part in draped dresses that perfectly encapsulated the film’s theme. Her co-stars, Anthony Ramos and Glen Powell, joined her on the red carpet.

Twisters: A 2024 Disaster Movie
Twisters is a standalone sequel to the 1996 Twister. It centers on meteorologist Kate Cooper, who, in college, was ambushed by an approaching tornado with her college friends in their attempt to reduce its size.
Years later, Javi (Anthony Ramos), the only other survivor from their college experiment, lures her back to the open field to test a new groundbreaking three-part sensor system that can locate a tornado.
She then meets Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a self-proclaimed “Tornado Wrangler,” who broadcasts his adventures on YouTube. A struggle for survival breaks out, pitting Kate, Tyler, and their rival teams against the storm’s increasing strength as multiple systems converge over central Oklahoma.
Twisters, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, is set to hit US theaters on July 19.
Braving the Rain in Victoria Beckham
Arriving at London’s tallest office block rooftop, Edgar-Jones confidently braved the rainy weather in a navy blue dress from Victoria Beckham’s Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection.
Daisy’s dress evoked the havoc caused by tornadoes in Twisters, yet it also struck me as weirdly beautiful. It features an uneven, softly ruffled hem, gathered detail at the front that provides a ruched, draped effect, and asymmetrical sheer panels that tease a glimpse of her skin.
It seems pretty straightforward, yet it perfectly embodies the feminine sophistication that characterizes Victoria Beckham’s designs.
The dress is lovely, but I don’t get the purpose of the triangular silver-tone metal side accent; it honestly reminds me of a clothes hanger. I must admit, though, that the deconstructed components on the side and back go well with the photocall motif.

Lovely Dress, Weird Styling
While I like the dress, I can’t say the same with the styling. The Where the Crawdads Sing actress didn’t wear rings or bracelets—just a pair of Anita Ko diamond earrings to give her ensemble a little glitz.
The fan-shaped earrings, made of 18k yellow gold and containing 1.3 carats of white round-cut diamonds, are available at Mytheresa for $7,340. Her dark hair, however, fashioned in messy waves, obscured her lone piece of jewelry.

The absence of jewelry was something I could overlook, but the stockings and pumps? Although they complemented the tone of the event, they felt too basic.
She wore the “Lidia” slingback pumps by Paris Texas, a well-known Milan-based shoe brand beloved by celebrities for its classic, feminine elegance combined with tough-chic style.
They are crafted from shiny patent leather and have an elasticated slingback strap set on 4.5-inch pin-thin stiletto heels.

Tornado-Inspired Vivienne Westwood Dress
For the Twisters European premiere one day prior, Daisy Edgar-Jones had once again, and somewhat successfully, adopted method dressing!
Edgar-Jones drew my eye when she arrived at Cineworld Leicester Square in London. She oozed grace and sophistication in a two-tone Vivienne Westwood outfit that blended classic and contemporary elements.
It’s not just a simple brown-and-black dress; every detail, from the structured corset bodice to the sweeping skirt, contributed to its gorgeous thematic design, which flawlessly embodied Westwood’s cutting-edge style.

The exquisite dress, mostly made of brown fabric, had a strapless, corseted bodice with a pointed scoop neck that protruded at the sides, typical of Westwood’s silhouette.
The lower section of the dress featured ruched swirly draping around the waist, resembling a twister, which cascaded diagonally down her legs and brushed the floor. Additionally, it had a risqué hip-high slit that showcased Daisy’s toned leg, adding a seductive touch to the ensemble.
The contrasting black chiffon sash draping across her chest and over her left shoulder enhanced the outfit’s regal look as it trailed down her side like a cape. However, despite its royal twist, I can’t help but see it as an allusion to the film’s tornado theme.
That may be one reason her stylist, Dani Michelle, selected this Vivienne Westwood piece for the film’s premiere. Michelle’s clientele includes Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kendall Jenner, and Hailey Bieber.

Understated Accessories
This outfit demonstrated Edgar-Jones’ aversion to extravagant accessories. She just wore a few pieces of gold Cartier jewelry, though a gold cuff or two may have added to the look’s regal vibe.
Dani Michelle chose to style Daisy with jewelry from the Cartier Grain De Café collection, inspired by the whole shape of the coffee bean, which “reflects its vision of nature: rebellious, free, and sophisticated.”

Edgar-Jones secured the $23,800 Grain De Café earrings on her ears. They are composed of yellow gold with a white gold twist and 1.11 carats of 16 brilliant-cut and two princess-cut diamonds.
On her well-groomed hands, she wore the matching $7,150 yellow and white gold ring, which contained four brilliant-cut and one princess-cut diamond totaling 0.10 carats.
She wore yet another pair of shiny black pumps for the occasion, which, though too simple, complemented the cape accent on her dress. They have a high back and are set on towering stiletto heels.
