Christina María Aguilera, born on December 18, 1980, in Staten Island, New York City, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and TV personality.

Christina’s diverse ethnicity adds to her uniqueness. She’s also known by the nicknames Xtina and Baby Jane.
Her father, Fausto Wagner Xavier Aguilera Monge, hails from Guayaquil, Ecuador. He has a rich mix of Spanish heritage, including Andalusian, Castilian, Extremaduran, Leónese, and Galician roots. He also has a trace of Swedish ancestry and remote Indigenous Quechua heritage.
On the other hand, her mother, Shelly Loraine (Fidler), was born in Pennsylvania. She has a primarily English heritage, with smaller contributions of German, Irish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, French, Welsh, and Dutch ancestry.
Christina Aguilera’s ethnicity is a blend of Ecuadorian (including Spanish heritage from Andalusian, Castilian, Extremaduran, Leónese, and Galician origins), a likely eighth Swedish heritage, and remote Indigenous Quechua from her father, while her mother’s side is primarily English with traces of German, Irish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, French, Welsh, and Dutch ancestry, and she was seen posing with a fan in New York City on June 29, 2023 (Credit: Roger Wong / INSTARimages)
Her mother is musician Shelly Loraine Kearns (née Fidler), born on March 23, 1960. She has German, Irish, Welsh, and Dutch ancestry.

In 1987, Shelly Loraine divorced Christina’s father, United States Army soldier Fausto Xavier Aguilera. After remarrying in 1991, Shelly Loraine changed her surname from Aguilera to Kearns.
The song “Oh Mother” from Christina Aguilera’s fifth studio album, Back to Basics (2006), talks about her abusive childhood.
Many fans wrongly believe Christina Aguilera is from Ecuador. While her father, Fausto Xavier Aguilera, is from the Andean country on South America’s west coast, Christina Aguilera was born in the United States. She did not visit Ecuador as a child.
According to Billboard, she made her first trip to Ecuador in 2015 as a volunteer global spokesperson for Yum! Brands’ World Hunger Relief program.
“This particular trip was sort of extra-special for me because it is my blood and heritage,” she said upon returning from Ecuador.
“My father was born in Ecuador and my grandfather was born in Quito, which is the city I stayed in. And we would drive out in the fields which were hours away by car and into the farmland and sort of refugee areas where people are struggling.”
