Celine Dion fans, rejoice! After being diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome, a rare neurological condition, in 2022, the iconic singer hasn’t been spotted in public much. But with the imminent release of her documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, I am thrilled to see that she’s more determined than ever to return to the spotlight.

The 56-year-old singer is in New York City to promote her Amazon Prime documentary, which chronicles her life, career, and struggles with Stiff-Person Syndrome. She dressed casually for her Tuesday visit, a far cry from her immaculate white look from the day before for the documentary premiere.

Celine Dion Goes Casual in ’70s Celine Logo Tee and Gianvito Rossi Heels

The My Heart Will Go On singer seldom steps out in casual clothing, so I was surprised to see her on the streets of New York City on Tuesday in a more laid-back look.

She wore a carefree retro ensemble, teaming a ‘70s-style green Celine logo tee with skinny jeans. Probably a reference to herself, she had on a simple ringer t-shirt with white Celine Paris lettering emblazoned across the front, complementing the beige trim at the armholes and neck.

She tucked the $640 basic khaki green Celine tee into medium-washed skinny jeans, cinched at the waist with a thick brown leather belt.

Although I wouldn’t say I like the outfit since it feels dated, I like how relatable she looks, which is different from her usual fun, glam, and chic ensembles before her sickness.

Elevating the casual ‘fit, Celine Dion accessorized with large gold hoop earrings, a gold watch, and a few gold rings. She also wore a long gold chain necklace with multiple chunky gold pendants.

For a cohesive look, Celine carried her essentials in a khaki green Chanel Canvas Chevron Cuba Patchwork Medium Flap bag. It has a patchwork pattern constructed from variegated green canvas, a matte gold Chanel CC turn-lock fastening, and a chain link-and-black leather threaded shoulder strap.

Her choice of ’70s oversized round sunglasses with ombre lenses added to the look’s throwback vibe.

Celine tucked her blonde hair back into a low ponytail while sporting her typical barely-there makeup.

I particularly appreciate how Dion dressed up the casual ensemble with Gianvito Rossi heels, even though she could have easily finished it with sneakers.

Suede leather strips in black, white, and green shades are layered to form a patchwork pattern on these shoes’ uppers. They come complete with peep toes, ankle straps, and 4-inch heels.

Elegant in Monochromatic White Dior

The day before, Dion attended the NYC screening of I Am: Celine Dion at Alice Tully Hall, marking her first red-carpet appearance since revealing her Stiff-Person Syndrome diagnosis.

She looked elegant in head-to-toe white Dior, which consisted of a $1,900 Dior “Ascot” long-sleeved pussybow blouse loosely tucked into a $4,200 white Dior flared maxi skirt. Although I find the style challenging to pull off, Dion shows that wearing all white is incredibly chic and classy.

The $2,700 Dior “Sparkle” belt, made of sleek black calfskin and embellished with silver crystals and white resin pearls, punctuated the all-white ensemble. It’s finished with a pin buckle adorned with a pavé of resin pearls and crystals.

Styled by Law Roach, Celine wore a stack of pearl and crystal bracelets, pearl stud earrings, and a cocktail ring to keep her accessories cohesive.

I initially thought she would wear white shoes with her white outfit to create a monochrome finish, but she opted for a pair of black pumps, barely visible from underneath the skirt.

Her blonde hair flowed over her shoulders, highlighting her natural features with a hint of pink eyeshadow, eyeliner, and nude lipstick.

Celine Dion’s first son, René-Charles Angelil, 23, joined her on the red carpet. He looked dapper in a classic black suit, white shirt, black tie, and dress shoes.

I Am: Celine Dion: Her Struggles with Life-Altering Disorder

I Am: Celine Dion is more than just another autobiography; it’s a way for the singer to open up to her fans about the health issues that compelled her to postpone several North American and European dates of her Courage World Tour.

In an interview with E! News, Dion expressed her desire “to share with the world that there’s [been] something going on for many, many, many years” because she values the people in her life, including her fans, family, and kids, and believes that “they deserve to know” what’s happening.

Through the 100-minute documentary, she wants to raise awareness on health issues, not just Stiff-Person Syndrome but other immune disorders, “for the people who may feel that they’re alone, they’re suffering.”

Irene Taylor, the director of I Am: Celine Dion, told The Hollywood Reporter she was unaware of Dion’s illness when she took on the project. At the time, she was still unclear about its possible direction.

“What I was worried about was, ‘What would the film be about? What would I focus on?’” Taylor told the outlet. “Because there is a very long career that we could focus on, and ultimately, this film really looks back on many, many decades, but it really focuses on the here and now and who she is, or I am right now.”

I Am: Celine Dion will be available for streaming starting June 25 on Amazon Prime Video.
