On Tuesday, Cate Blanchett, renowned for her dedication to environmental causes, graced the 2023 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony at The Theater at Mediacorp in Singapore on a special mission – to present one of the prestigious awards and set a style statement.
Despite her well-noted penchant for re-wearing red carpet outfits, Cate opted for a rare fresh-off-the-runway look that captured her values and resonated with the event’s spirit.
The 54-year-old Oscar-winning actress collaborated with her favorite fashion house, Stella McCartney, which is celebrated for its unwavering commitment to sustainable fashion, to curate her gold and silver ensemble for the evening.

For this conscientious occasion, Cate graced the stage in a Stella McCartney cropped wool vest featuring a slender fit, a gracefully tailored V-neck, and a cropped hem.
Layered elegantly atop the recycled vest was a tailored Stella McCartney jacket boasting of a relaxed fit, peaked lapels, and a single-breasted design fastened with a button.
Completing the Paradise Road star‘s ensemble were the Stella McCartney brocade pants, with their relaxed fit and wide-leg silhouette, making a bold fashion statement while symbolizing sustainability.
Cate’s go-to celebrity stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, who has also styled stars like Jessica Chastain, Amanda Seyfried, and Julia Roberts, played a crucial role in creating this impeccable look.
The three-piece suit, an embodiment of Stella’s fusion of masculine and feminine styles, hailed from the British fashion designer’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

This collection, prominently featuring 95 percent responsible materials, showcased innovations such as yarn made from seaweed, recycled glass, repurposed silk, organic cotton, and vegan leathers crafted from the byproduct of grapes used in Champagne production.
It drew inspiration from creating future heirlooms and timeless pieces, an homage to Stella’s parents, Paul and Linda McCartney, and their collection filled with textured, tailored garments.
Cate allowed her radiant suit to stand out by opting for minimal accessories and a natural makeup palette. Her short blonde hair was elegantly parted on the side and cascaded down her shoulders.

Although her footwear was mainly concealed beneath her trouser hems, Cate adorned her feet with open-toed sandals, elevating her stunning frame.
As she graced the red carpet, Cate was accompanied by none other than Prince William, who made a sartorial statement in a classic black-and-white tuxedo, creating a captivating contrast with the actress’ radiant ensemble.
Cate Blanchett’s involvement with the Earthshot Prize extends beyond being a fashion icon at the event. She has been an integral part of the awards since its inception as one of the members of the 13-person council that governs the environmental initiative.
During the awards ceremony, Cate aimed to convey a positive message about the lasting impact we can all make in the face of climate change.

She spoke passionately about this year’s nominees, saying, “We don’t have time for inaction and despair, and the incredible climate solutions from around the globe are cause for genuine hope. The solutions are game-changing, and like all truly game-changing ideas, they have a strange ‘how could we not have thought and implemented this before?!’ quality.”
The Earthshot Prize Awards, founded in 2020 by Prince William and Sir David Attenborough, aim to recognize and support organizations dedicated to environmental innovation.

The Royal Foundation presented the first awards in 2021, and the Earthshot Prize Foundation, co-founded by Prince William and Sir David Attenborough, took the honor in 2022.
This year’s deserving winners, including Accíon Andina, GRST, WildAid Marine Program, S4S Technologies, and Boomitra, received a grant of 1 million pounds each to further their environmental endeavors, a substantial step towards a more sustainable future.
