Are you ready to meet your new favorite father-son duo?
The new Netflix original comedy series Unstable stars the talented Rob Lowe and his real-life son, John Owen Lowe, as they take on the roles of father-and-son duo Ellis and Jackson Dragon.
This new series promises to be an exciting blend of comedy and drama as it explores the complexities of the father-son relationship.
Rob Lowe’s height is now believed to be around 5 feet 10 inches (177.8 cm), which is slightly taller than the average height for men in the United States (around 5 feet 9 inches or 175.3 cm). His son, John Owen Lowe, stands at 5 feet 8 inches (172.7 cm), which is slightly below average height for men in the United States.

Rob Lowe once discussed his height in an interview with the Huffington Post. According to him, he stands at 5-foot-11 and three-quarters, and he takes pride in not rounding it down to just 5-foot-11. He sees the extra three-quarters of an inch as significant, almost like a child claiming to be “6 and a half” instead of just 6. He believes that being close to 6 feet tall separates “the men from the boys,” as height can often be associated with masculinity.
Rob Lowe was born on March 17, 1964, while his son John Owen Lowe was born on November 6, 1995. John Owen Lowe’s mother is Sheryl Berkoff, who has been married to Rob Lowe since 1991. Rob Lowe was 31 when his son John Owen Lowe was born.
The line between reality and fiction is blurred as the Lowes bring their father-son dynamic to the table. While their on-screen personas may be tumultuous, their real-life connection is quite different, adding an extra layer of depth and authenticity to their performances.
Get ready to laugh and cry with this hilarious and heartfelt new series.

Inside Look: The Lowe’s Real-Life Bond and On-Screen Magic
In the first teaser of the show, released on February 3, Rob and John made fun of their relationship and how it inspired the series.
John joked that his father’s ego, if not restrained, would be “honestly dangerous” and said that he had to spend considerable time in his adolescence trying to keep him “humble.”
While John deems his father’s role as a “narcissist,” Rob says, “Ellis Dragon is trying to find meaning in his life, but the board of his company are worried about him.”

According to John, the show is “about a father-son dynamic that’s really relatable, but under a really specific lens, which is a father who likes being the center of attention and a son who feels the exact opposite.”
Although there are many jokes in the series, John claimed that the sarcastic ones exchanged between the two characters on and off-screen are genuine.
John explained to Variety during the Hollywood premiere, “It’s not a bit, I swear to god it’s not a bit, and it’s really important to me that you know that. I see it at home, and I think to myself, ‘OK, this has crossed a threshold. People think this is a bit.’ I’ve been doing this since social media wasn’t a thing.”
The rest of the ensemble claimed that both sides traded harmless pranks throughout the season. However, according to Rob, everything was good fun.
The actor said, “I love a good joke, even if it’s at my expense. When I was roasted on Comedy Central, it was a highlight, and it was mean. I love a good give and take, and he has a very good facility for it.”

His son teased, “It’s how I show love, and it’s how I keep him humble.”
Ultimately, John claims that the two of them have found working on the show to be “therapeutic,” saying, “We get to hug and say ‘I love you’ in this show, and we don’t get to do that a lot in real life. We have a great relationship, my dad and I, but we’re like best friends. So getting to play a father and son is like adding in that missing puzzle piece. He’s a great dad.”
As a dad, Rob added, “It was a very proud moment because I got to marvel at his facility for writing, which he’s had since he was in grade school, and his ability to jump into the comedy world against heavyweights like Fred Armisen and hold his own.”
The proud father continued, “As an actor, and particularly as a co-producer, creator with him, being able to have somebody who thinks like me, has the same wants and needs as I do, it’s like having a second brain on the set. That’s super helpful to have in a partner.”
