Carey Mulligan is known for her modest taste in dress, and at the 2015 British Independent Film Awards, the actress amplified this image in 3/4 sleeves and a high-collared, floor-length gown.

Mulligan, 30, is a new mom as of September of this year, but even with all the fabric of her dress, we could still tell she has a post-baby body worth showing off.

Regardless of how little skin she bore, her Gucci gown drew more than enough attention with a 3-D print pattern of bold squares and bright bird and flower accents. Please leave it to Gucci to glam up a style that could easily come off as too old-fashioned.

The charming British star was nominated for Best Actress, and at the awards show, she was certainly dressed for the win.

The Gucci gown features a grey and green geometric pattern that resembles a building design on a thick-knit and shimmery body-hugging fabric. The bright yellow parrot in flight around the knee and the red flower and ladybug embellishments at the neck are even more intriguing than the mod print.

The eye-catching printed dress looked stunning on the young actress. We were impressed with Mulligan’s daring design choice and think it suited her wonderfully. She didn’t accessorize too much and kept her makeup shy of natural. We still love her dark hair color; it pairs beautifully with the dark hues of the gown. She styled it in shining, soft waves that hung past her shoulders.
What’s your opinion of Mulligan’s patterned Gucci dress? Do you think she pulled it off?
