Carey Mulligan made a glamorous return to the red carpet this week as she graced the Los Angeles premiere of her new biopic, Maestro, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Impressing fans who were let down by her lackluster interpretation of understated elegance at the Maestro London premiere, Mulligan showed up in a glittering navy-blue gown that stole the spotlight.
Looking every bit the leading lady, the 38-year-old actress was impossible to miss in the breathtaking gown made especially for her by Celine’s creative, artistic, and image director, Hedi Slimane.

Adorned with thousands of sparkling navy sequins, Mulligan’s outfit was the perfect representation of Slimane’s obsession with shiny ornaments.
Carey’s slender physique was exquisitely accentuated by the gown’s column construction, which elegantly cascaded down her body.
Apart from the shimmering sequins, the impeccable dress featured dramatic structural sleeves that draped over her arms, providing her plenty of room to accessorize with a bold necklace.

However, given Mulligan’s preference for minimalist styling, she went bare-neck and accompanied her sparkling look with a set of Bulgari diamond jewelry.
Styled by Andrew Mukamal, whose famous clientele includes Margot Robbie, Zoë Kravitz, and Billie Eilish, Mulligan donned Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti Viper ring and a pair of diamond drop earrings.
Makeup artist Yukari Obayashi Bush applied pink lipstick, blush, and eyeshadow to Carey’s face to give her a youthful, glamorous appearance. Hairstylist Jenny Cho straightened her signature platinum bob, giving the ends a slight flare for volume.

Maestro Picks Up Several Golden Globe Nominations
Maestro was nominated for the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. It made its theatrical debut in selected theaters on November 22 and will be accessible for streaming on Netflix on December 20.
For her role as Leonard Bernstein’s wife, Felicia Montealegre, Mulligan earned a nod for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama at the 2024 Golden Globes.
Meanwhile, Cooper, who looked dapper in a three-piece navy-blue suit by Louis Vuitton, also received a nomination for Best Director in a Motion Picture and Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama. Maestro is also up for Best Motion Picture Drama.
At one point on the red carpet, Mulligan was seen posing alongside Cooper’s A Star Is Born leading lady Lady Gaga and daughter Lea De Seine.

Carey Mulligan Promotes Maestro in Ferragamo Menswear-Inspired Look
After the Los Angeles premiere of Maestro, Mulligan was seen heading to the Jimmy Kimmel Live studios to promote her latest project.
For her guest appearance on the show, the Saltburn actress donned a head-to-toe black look by Ferragamo.

The house’s creative director, Maximilian Davis, designed Mulligan’s outfit, a modern interpretation of the traditional blazer suit. It features contemporary split long sleeves, a structured bodice with a flattering nipped-in waist, and a daring plunging v-neckline.
Instead of teaming it with slim-fit pants, stylist Andrew Mukamal dressed Mulligan in loose-fitting trousers and finished with $1,690 high patent stretch boots.
These bold and seductive boots are made of stretch patent leather, giving them a glove-like fit. They have long, pointed toes, an internal side zip, soft suede lining, 3-inch slim, curved stiletto heels, and the label’s signature golden F logo on the sole.

Sporting her usual blonde bob, Carey completed her menswear ensemble with the $2,750 Geometric handbag, a sophisticated, ladylike bag with a retro flair.
Crafted from soft, semi-glossy calfskin, this bag features an asymmetrical front flap that gives the rigid structure more fluidity. It also comes with a golden custom clasp and can be carried by the top handle or the removable shoulder strap.
