In the 2004 American comedy film White Chicks, Busy Philipps took on the memorable role of Karen Googlestein, one of the close friends of Tiffany and Brittany, the socialites portrayed by the Wayans Brothers in their undercover FBI investigation.
The film hit theaters in the United States on June 23, 2004, when Busy Philipps was 24. Just two days later, on June 25, 2004, she celebrated her 25th birthday.

Reflecting on Her Role in White Chicks
Despite its initial negative reviews, the film has gained a cult following. In 2019, Busy Philipps discussed her role in the movie during an appearance on the podcast Absolutely Not! hosted by comedian Heather McMahan.
Philipps revealed that she played the character described as the “fat girl” in the movie. However, upon further reflection, she realized that her character was not actually overweight and suggested that this might have been part of the joke.
“To be totally honest with you, I think I was a size 8,” she said. Philipps went on to suggest that the movie would not be made in the same way if it were produced today.

“To be totally honest with you, I think I was a size 8. Upon further reflection, maybe that was the joke, that she wasn’t really fat but that they are just so horrible…That movie wouldn’t be made now.”
Her comments highlight the changing cultural landscape and growing sensitivity towards body shaming and representation in Hollywood.
After reflecting on her role in White Chicks and the cultural shifts since the film’s release, Busy Philipps has continued to captivate audiences with her dynamic presence on screen and off. Transitioning from her comedic role in the early 2000s to her more recent projects, Busy has showcased her evolving style and confidence in the spotlight. One such example of her effortless chic was on display during her appearance at the AOL BUILD event, where she stunned in a carefully curated retro-inspired ensemble.
