Initially, Goldstein joined the Ted Lasso team as a writer when TV producer Bill Lawrence hired him to bring the show’s witty and heartwarming stories to life. However, his connection to the character of Roy Kent sparked something within him, leading him to take a bold step.
Inspired to prove his worth, Goldstein self-taped five scenes, including one memorable scene from the pilot, and submitted an unsolicited audition. This move paid off, and he landed the role that would change his life.
The critical acclaim he received for his work was underscored by not one but two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, a remarkable achievement that solidified his status as a star on the rise.

Ted Lasso introduced him to a global audience and opened doors to new opportunities, such as appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and co-creating the Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking.
In Shrinking, Goldstein collaborated with Bill Lawrence and Jason Segel to create a show centered around a therapist navigating personal and professional challenges.
He also co-created the six-part science fiction anthology series Soulmates for AMC. The show, set in the future, where a genetic test can identify soulmates, allowed Goldstein to explore themes of love and relationships.
Who Is Brett Goldstein in a Relationship With?
Regarding his personal life, Brett Goldstein prefers to keep it out of the spotlight. Despite being in the public eye, he’s managed to maintain his privacy, especially regarding his dating life.
He is reportedly single and focused on upcoming projects, and his only public relationship is with fellow actor and writer Beth Rylance.
The exact start of their romance remains unclear, as the couple kept it very private. They seemingly spent time together during the COVID-19 pandemic and even created an amateur parody of Love Island in March 2020.

It was in September 2021 that their relationship was confirmed when Goldstein thanked Rylance in his Emmy Awards acceptance speech for Ted Lasso.
At the time, Goldstein said, “I was very, very specifically told I’m not allowed to swear, so this speech is going to be f***ing short… Beth, I love you.”
Over time, the couple occasionally shared glimpses of their bond on social media but maintained a discreet relationship.
Unfortunately, by August 2022, reports surfaced that they had parted ways, with speculation suggesting it might have happened as early as April of that year. Work obligations seemed to be the reason for the split, with both being busy with exciting career opportunities.
