In March 2011, Chanel hosted another intimate dinner in Paris for Blake Lively, their new handbag ambassador. She was the new face of Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag line.
Karl Lagerfeld, the iconic designer behind Chanel, chose Lively for the campaign and shot the photographs at Chanel’s Parisian headquarters.
The campaign emphasized her appeal as “an American dream girl.” This appointment highlighted Lively’s status in the fashion world and her alignment with the luxury image of the Chanel brand.

Blake Lively’s Unexpected Shoe Choice: A Louboutin Twist
Of course, the actress was in and carrying Chanel, but she finished off her look with shoes from another brand she’s also professed her undying love for: Christian Louboutin.
As soon as I got over my initial shock at Blake Lively’s super spiky eyelashes, I honed in on her shoes:
The distinctive Louboutin Salsbourg sandals seemed to be a size too small for Blake Lively, which raised a few eyebrows
Someone tell me if my eyes are deceiving me because no matter what angle I look at them, I only see Blake Lively’s Louboutins as a size too small for her.
Blake Lively steps out in striking Christian Louboutin lace-up sandals, featuring intricate white rope detailing, bold red heels, and gold tassel ankle ties
We’ve featured these distinctive Louboutins before, and you might remember that they are the Christian Louboutin Salsbourg sandals.
I completely admired them when we wrote about Chloë Sevigny wearing them at the HBO’s Big Love Season 5 Party, where they perfectly complemented her look. However, on Blake Lively, the pairing feels slightly mismatched, as the bold, intricate details of the sandals compete with the structured elegance of her Chanel look.
Aside from the shoes not being Blake’s size, they don’t quite coordinate with the Chanel Couture sparkly silver dress she wore under her coat, nor do they pair well with the black handbag she carried. I wish Blake had worn these Louboutins with a different dress at a different event because they’re not getting the attention they deserve.

Building on her standout style moments that year, Blake Lively turned heads once again at the National Board of Review Gala in another striking ensemble worth highlighting.
